We've been here twice for Cheesesteaks. We ordered their 6 inch Original Philly Cheesesteak which came with cheese, onions, green peppers, and mayo (we had the mushrooms left off). Here are our comments from both visits:
BREAD: Outstanding. A true cheesesteak roll. Crusty exterior, soft chewy interior. Held up well to the generous amount of steak and toppings. Not at all soggy and stayed crispy to the end.
STEAK: Perfect! Very thin slices were cooked on a sizzling flat top. Well-seasoned, served piping hot and juicy throughout.
CHEESE AND TOPPINGS: Solid. The way the cheese and toppings melded perfectly with the beef was stellar. There was so much meat on the sandwich that additional toppings might’ve been too much.
SIDES: We ordered the small serving of onion rings and they were also fantastic and a small order was plentiful. They must be made in store because they sure tasted like it.
VALUE: We paid about $23 for the two cheesesteaks and onion rings and that was a bargain owing to (a) the high quality of the food and (b) the amount of steak in the sandwiches. I would’ve considered it worth it to pay even more.
We've been sampling cheesesteak sandwiches all over the Twin Cities and Dominick's is, hands-down - no contest, the best. Major props to both Amanda and Bob, the owners who also do the cooking and serving. We had a nice chat with them the first visit and they are the real deal.
One of these times we will try the pizza IF we can resist getting more...
Read moreWe've had the pizza and cheesesteaks on separate occasions. The pizza is solid, not exceptional.
But, wow, the cheesesteak sandwiches are phenomenal! The sandwiches are served piping hot, with tender steak, ample melty cheese, and the perfect amount of veggies (if desired). Served in 6" and 12" sizes. I found the 6" to be a good size for me. Get a 12" if you're super hungry or a big eater. I will absolutely be returning for another sandwich!
Update Oct 2024: Cheesesteak still amazing but disappointed with the onion rings. Had a bitter taste as if the fry oil was old and they were otherwise pretty bland.
A couple things to be aware of: You can call in an order but if you get a busy signal it probably means they are short-staffed and have disconnected their phone for the day, so you'll have to order in person.
Also, they are often closed on holiday weekends (i.e labor day) since it is a small family...
Read moreHeard about this place from a guy in our office. He is from New York and was raving about Dominick's philly cheese steak sandwich. He is a really picky guy, so I said to myself.....I will have to try this place some day. Moving forward a couple of weeks, I was looking to pickup something on the way home. We are totally burned out in pizza, chinese, fried chicken and indian food......then this place came to mind. I stopped by and ordered five different sandwiches. Upon getting home we cut them into four parts and and everyone had a sample of each. Talk about hitting a home run !!!!! Oh my gosh, this is a phenomenal sandwich shop. By far the best in the Cities. I am not kidding. The philly cheese steak and the chicken bacon ranch are way over the top. I highly recommend this super friendly, low key restaurant and look forward to going...
