Papa J's Diner — Restaurant in Inverness

I went here with my 4 year old grandson who was adamant he have pancakes. We entered the restaurant and was greeted by the cashier/hostess. She greeted us with give me a moment and I'll clean off a table over in the back for you. She was checking out a large party and I was understanding. Once she was done another staff member came to the register and swapped out with her. Now I'm waiting for her to clear a table for us only to see her go to several other tables with current customers and proceeded to refil their drinks, clear their plates and chit chat with several different other tables. All the while my 4yo and myself stood at the door waiting. SHE NEVER CLEARED US A TABLE NOR EVEN RECOGNIZED US EVEN STILL THERE. I don't know what the deal was maybe because I had a child with me but for some reason we were just disregarded and he wasn't even misbehaving. We never got to try this place because customer service has gone out the window. I would have loved to have tried this establishment but was completely repulsed at the treatment we received so unfortunately we wound up at McDonald's. I was looking to try and find a place to go that served breakfast all day without having to drive out of town. I like to keep it local but this place has jaded me now as has the customer service industry all together. If you say you're going to do something do it and follow through otherwise find a different job if CSR isn't your forte. Unfortunately, this may be an amazing place to eat but I'll never know. My wife and I’ve seen this restaurant and We wanted to try it so we walked in and we found a table and sat down a few moments later the waitress came up, took her drink order and then came back and took our food order. Everything seemed to be going. OK. She came back with our food and drinks. I asked for hot sauce. She said what kind I told her I would like crystals. She repeated it back and said OK walked away and she continued helping other customers, and I noticed my eggs was not cooked at all. They was completely raw on top of all my food and then when she came back through, I had to stop her from walking past and I told her about my eggs, not being cooked at all, and she gave me a rude disrespectful attitude instead of trying to make it better. She just took the eggs off, so I end up eating the rest of my food and I never received my hot sauce or a drink refill and when we went to pay for the bill, she got snippy that we did not leave a tip so my wife and I paid $35 for very little food bad service and we left hungry so we had to go somewhere else and spend more money they should change the name to...

My wife and I went there on a whim this past sunday on our way to visit her brother..what a pleasant surprise this eatery was!! It was like being back up north on long island, nassau county to be more exact. Funny thing, i mentioned to my wife how we've looked for places like THIS since moving down here in 2009; diner-ish but more luncheonette atmosphere.... hard to come by. Alas, this place was! And the kicker, the owner who we met and struck up a conversation with, telling him how we missed places like this, only to find out, and i had bet on it too, that he WAS from our neck of the woods... Island park!!!!! Knew it! Well, the service was great, the food was even GREATER! The BEST home fries around and conrned beef hash ta boot! We intend on going back tho Papa J's to try out more food! Glad we decided to give it a go.... looking forward to going back! He'll know who left this review... we sat in the corner by the kitchen, my wife musing with the waitress if the hash was worth...
