Canal Coffee Company — Restaurant in Irmo

Recent transplant (2 days ago!) to Irmo, & ordered doordash delivery from Canal Coffee on our very first morning here.

I was very impressed by the sheer number of options available from which to choose to start our day — rivaling Starbucks in number only, as Canal EASILY surpasses the 'bucks in all other areas – most especially quality, flavors + kindness. There was clearly much care taken in the making of our coffees, & the pastries were extraordinary. Our hot sandwiches had unique twists, which set them apart from other coffee companies, & flavors were DELISH! Food arrived hot & was fully enjoyed by all. Will be ordering again this morning, as we continue unpacking from our move. Definitively (+ highly) recommend this 5-🌟 delight of a coffee shop, & I'm thrilled not only to have found it, but also that it's a mere .4 mile away. I got a total of 5 things in my order and I can’t believe it came out to $38.00. At a drive thru coffee shop, that’s honestly expensive. I got a kid size smoothie, two medium coffees and a grilled cheese and ciabatta bread sandwich. The only good thing from this order was my kids tiny smoothie, in which they said you can only choose one flavor for. The girl at the window was not very welcoming or didn’t seem to be very happy to be there. So customer service was a 3/10 for me, only because the girl who initially took my order was very patient and kind with me since it was my first time there. The protein in the coffees they claim to be “undetectable protein”, but that’s honestly all I could taste in the golden grams. The grilled cheese sandwich was very bad, the bread was over toasted and there was little to no cheese in it.. But overall don’t think I would...

Excellent coffees & pastries. I haven't tried the teas, smoothies or lunch menu but I'm told it's all just as good. About 2 years ago I did order a meat & cheese snack that came as a pre-packaged resale item. Unfortunately it was bad but... I never contacted Canal to complain. I'm sure if I had complaned they absolutely would have made it right! I'm always indecisive & at 50+ I'm not very knowledgeable about much more than regular coffee & tea. They are excellent at suggesting the perfect drink after you answer a few questions about your flavor preferances. I think everyone should at least give them a try... you might never go to...
