TACOS EL LOCO — Restaurant in Irving

Restaurant person so I notice things like they use STYROFOAM plates which are toxic actually so I had to deduct a star for that. They are very bad for the environment also as they never decompose. Silvia greeted us with a smile and was patient as we decided on what to order with the extensive menu posted above the counter. She also checked on people to see if they needed anything and was quick to bring to go boxes for leftovers and to pick up used plates. A+ customer service from Silvia and she should be a corporate trainer for sure. Husband ordered a machete which came out hot and fresh with plenty of filling and he enjoyed it alot. I posted photos in that section for those wanting to see it. I ordered the Torta Locos and it too was served hot and the fillings were plentiful and delicious and thankfully no lettuce! They bring you a red and also a green salsa made in house. We preferred the red by far. I wish they made the light green smooth taqueria style salsa that most places have. This place is new so it is totally spotless including the bathrooms. Silvia kept the tables clean as I said which also led to the spotless appearance. Again, great job on her part. Husband got Menudo that morning and we returned for lunch as the owner gave him a taco to try. His critique of the Menudo: the menudo was not that good, not bad not excellent, needed to clean more and the sauce needed something, *He was born in Mexico and knows what Menudo should be. I have visited this place multiple times spending upwards of 50-60 bucks every visit. One of my very first visits I decided to buy some sugar cookies they had on display which were almost 8 dollars. I got home excited to try them, but realized within the first bite they were hard and stale. On my next visit I informed them of what happened with the sugar cookies and they told me I needed to tell them the same day. Which okay no big deal my fault. Then when I got home from that visit with my food I found a short hair in my tacos and it was very off putting, but I understand mistakes happen. Well I decided to ignore it and go back still because the tacos are great. Today I went to pick up food and when I got home to open my plate of guiso I found a hair embedded in my rice and beans. The hair was a long hair and when I called to notify them about the hair and they informed only men are in the kitchen which I thought was weird because why would I lie about hair being in my food. I also informed them there were no tortillas included in my bag. Then when I asked them to refund my plate they kept insisting on giving me credit when honestly I just wanted my refund for the plate. Great choice for me! It started with Slylvia who greeted us when we entered with a genuine smile and very pleasant, customer friendly vibe. She took our order and was patient and informative with our questions. She also served us our food and made recommendations which definitely enhanced our experience. The food was very flavorful but not salty which is always a plus. We tried a little of everything. We got a steak taco, chicken taco, quesobirria tacos, barbacoa tacos menudo, rice and beans (definitely ordered enough for leftovers later). The atmosphere was very pleasant, clean and open. The restrooms were very clean also. Very good choice as I’m looking for a new taco spot since I just moved to Irving. I want to tell the owner, Sylvia is a GREAT face for the company, she deserves to be paid top pay and given accolades for her service.
