TL;DR - Yolk uses chownow for their online ordering, which opens an incorrect version of the menu for Texas locations. Ordering any items from the missing "Shareables" section means you don't get the food you want, and the manager might suggest you to swap to something cheaper while paying the idiot tax. Food was excellent, but the online order process and the subsequent exchange with the manager soured the experience.
Yolk uses chownow for their online order process. You can see the attached picture - there's a section called "Shareables."
What we ordered: Croque Madame - a hefty portion with excellent amount of meat and melted cheese. The seasoned potatoes were salty and savory without making it too heavy with the meat and cheese and french toast.
Breakfast Mac & Cheese - whatever they did with the dish, they've hit the gold standard on the mac and cheese ratio - noodles cooked to just the right bite feel with the cheese, and the cheese was gooey without being too thick, nor was it too watery to pool on the bottom of the bowl. Plenty of breakfast meats mixed in.
Scotch Egg - Manager called and left a message, they don't have this dish and they don't know why we would order this.
We called back, and was told that they don't have Scotch Egg, not that it's out, but it's not on the menu at all.
We were then told that he cannot cancel the order, and he cannot swap it with something more expensive for us to cover the difference in cost, it has to be something $7 or lower.
So, we checked the Yolk menu on chownow and asked: Kentucky Fried Bacon? Nope, not on the menu Fried Green Tomatoes? Not on the menu Churro French Toast Bites? Not on the menu
What did they have??? The manager offered to give us a hard boiled egg, for $5.40. That's...kinda insulting, all things considered.
The only thing that stopped me from doing a charge back and just let the credit card company sort it out was a...
Read moreThe biscuits and gravy were delicious, the hot sauce they had to offer is very good as well as the coffee, It's strong and tastes very artisanal. I also had a side of turkey sausage, which had a hint of maple 🍁 savory and sweet.
I do need to make vegans aware that they inflate the price for you.
For example, the skillet starts at $18, and they charge $1.25 for every vegetable you'd like to add when creating your skillet. It's also $3 for avocado. With egg whites, it's very close to $30 for a simple scrambled eggs dish placed in a skillet. The portion was very disappointing as well. You order all these vegetables and get a dash of each. Check out the photo.
It seems there may have been a bit of miscommunication somewhere along the line from ordering, making, plating, and serving as green onions were added instead of green bell peppers. And white toast was brought out instead of sourdough.
I wanted to voice my concerns, but there were too many that it made my date feel uneasy when I wanted to share my concerns. Most people fear that food is tampered with when complaints or concerns are shared. That's understandable.
We were seated promptly, and my phone call before arriving was also pleasant. Everything just changed when we sat down, ordered, and received our order. We were asked twice if we needed anything, and there were several times when I was looking around for anyone to refill my coffee or ask for butter.
I called in this morning to speak to the manager before I wrote my review, but Louie said the manager was busy and I was not offered anything else with regard to a resolution.
I know sourdough because I worked with it for longer than I'd be proud to say, and that was...
Read moreSad to say we walked in at 10:44 ordered by 10:50 and it’s now 11:47 and just walked out. They took so long to bring our food, and then even forgot the other persons food which was just eggs and potatoes 🙃. The Nutella crepe was drenched in whipped cream. We had to also ask for replacement utensils as our forks were both dirty. For reference there were only 6 tables of 2 people each and 3 of those tables had their food already.
Responce to their response —- ABSOLUTELY a lie!! What do you mean? Nothing was said to us, our waiter dropped my food, the south beach and the crepe and that’s it. Took us 3 times trying to get his attention until he came back and we told him the rest was missing and he literally stood at register counter and yelled “I’m missing two eggs” then 5 minutes later brought it, the manager lady then came to ask if anything was missing and we said, yes her muffin and two straws.. not once did she even offer an apology. she eventually dropped it off and then she sat down at counter and ate her food herself. So don’t say there was a quality issue, it was literally two eggs scrambled and potatoes. you guys just didn’t make those eggs and potatoes and still forgot the muffin.
It was not a busy Thursday in...
