Hunan Gourmet — Restaurant in Island Lake

We just moved to island Lake And are super big on Chinese food like we go to certain parts of Chinatown just to have the best Chinese food and our standards are both high and low that we set for our food and are so sad to say that this will not be our go to Chinese spot. for a large Mongolian beef it was $17 and it looked like it was a small and I had asked for light vegetables and mild, which it was neither there was barely any meat in there And it just did not taste good either sadly. Then there was the beef fried rice that we also got as well for the kids and it was just sad the beef chunks inside the rice were so rubbery and huge. I ended up cooking dinner which I did not want to do. Hence the reason why we got Chinese food. We spent over $60 and we regret Almost every penny the only thing that we got that was good out of our entire selection was the eggrolls That was the only reason why they received one star was for The eggrolls. all together we had Mongolian beef, Peapod, Shrimp fried rice, Beef fried rice, And two small white rice came with the order(My rice cooker makes better white rice) and the two eggrolls. 2018: They didn't read back our order so we didn't get exactly what we expected but everything we got tasted really good. One drawback is it costs more than our usual takeout place in Palatine. Hunan's location was the primary driver for us trying them out... 2020: This place has superceded our previous favorite Chinese takeout! Wow, wow, WOW! Pleasantly surprised!!! I went through 4 Chinese restaurants! They were either closed down, they don’t deliver after placing order online, grub hub only…And I’m so glad Because this is far far better than my go to place. They were on time, the food was hot! When I was done eating it was still hot! Egg rolls were outstanding! Everything was just crispy, not over sweet Or too hot.. simply OUTSTANDING! Thank you! I’m going to go eat another egg...
