Island Lake Cafe — Restaurant in Island Lake

Our family came in for some home cooked food. First impression it was so eclectic, loved it. We order our drinks, they never showed up. Our food came out, we started to eat still no drinks. Our waitress never came back after talking our order. My husband saw a bus boy clearing tables and said excuse me, we ordered drinks and they never got delivered. He apologized and brought our drinks. The waitress noticed the drinks being delivered and came over. She stated without hesitation thats his job he gets the drinks, it struck us as odd because we watched her deliver drinks to other diners. We continued to eat, my daughter pulled a long hair out of her cheese burger, so then my husband and I looked through our food, he also fond hair in his food. I must have been the lucky one because my meal was hairless!

I stood up with both plates of food that had hair in them walked to the lady behind the counter and started to say we found hair in our meals, the non existent waitresss comes running over and says whats wrong? I then said besides the fact that you suck as a waitress there is hair in our meals!

We all left without paying the bill! This place needs to have an inspection from the health department!

Ordered the chicken tender, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and jalapeño popper appetizer. They were stingy on the chicken tenders. They give you six onion rings and it says chicken tender first in the appetizer. The chicken literally was a chicken breast slices down the middle of it and then that single breast was split between my friend and I. It was the cheapest chicken tender dish I have had ever had. They said we’d have four or five chicken tenders. No for two women we had two four inch by one inch wide sliced lengthwise chicken tenders between is. Basically a chicken breast that had been quartered. I will never order here again. They give you a whole dish of marinara in the center to substitute having to add more chicken or any other appetizer items. Also the honey mustard wasn’t honey mustard sauce which is simple to make. They give you salad dressing - Ken’s honey mustard salad dressing. Done going here. If I do ever go here again I will only...

We waited over an hour for 3 salads, 3 soups and 2 sandwiches. Other customers walked in after us and sat down, they got their food immediately. We could have dined in and got better service than our take out service. Extremely disorganized, under staffed, and incredibly unprofessional service. Also when we received our food finally after waiting a whole hour, we were missing parts of our order. The soup was also poured out of both containers all containers all over in the bag at the bottom. Then, the Caesar salad had way too much dressing in there, it made it look like the lettuce was swimming in the Caesar salad dressing because it filled half of the container. I just hope they get more organized and get better staff who actually know what they're doing and who knows how to make a salad because it's not...
