Before moving to Jackson, Mateo's in Freehold was our go-to place for the freshest and best food around and the best service as well. Now that they just opened a location in Jackson, this is the best thing that can happen. We were a party of 12 and ordered a mix of appetizers and entrees. We had to start off with their signature upside down square. We did it half tomato sauce/ half vodka sauce - the lightest, fluffiest, and the best you'll ever have. We also ordered their spinach and artichoke pie, creamy and delicious. Last of the appy's was their pepperoni knots, addictive. As for the entrees, in no particular order, eggplant rollatini, like everything on their menu freshly made. In this case you can tell by the consistancy of the ricotta that it was not frozen. Chicken parm over pasta in vodka sauce, tender, absolutley amazing. Same goes for their chicken carbonara over pasta, delicious. Lastly, a couple of orders of broccoli rabe, sautéd perfectly in garlic and oil. And before I forget, the kids loved the spaghetti and meatballs. Every portion was generous and very fairly priced. Bottom line: if you know Mateo's Freehold, you have to try Mateo's II in Jackson. And if you live in the Jackson or Howell area and have never heard of Mateo's, you must try them. They are excellent.

I have always been a fan of Mateo restaurants. We have been to Matawan, Freehold, and now the brand new restaurant in Jackson. The entire restaurant was freshened up and is more welcoming. The staff when you order up front is beyond nice. I ordered a chicken parm hero. When the sandwich came out, it was on fresh crispy semolina bread. The cutlets were fresh and not frozen. The sauce was not the old generic cheap Saporito or Tomato Magic. The brand he uses is higher end and it reflects in the taste. I would have to say this is #1 chicken parm in my book. If you’re a chicken parm fan, you gotta try this one. I spoke with the owner for 15 minutes. He did not rush the conversation and spent some time with me. He looks forward to serving the surrounding community. You can truly feel it while talking with him. He’s an exceptional young man who is known for feeding the less fortunate in Freehold. He has always been great with the community. Continued success Mateo’s!! We love ya!

Hold onto your taste buds, folks! Mateo’s Pizza in Jackson is a culinary revelation! The owner is a beacon of friendliness, leading a team of culinary wizards who whip up the most delectable delights. Their pizza? Oh, it’s a masterpiece! The sauce is a symphony of flavors, striking a perfect harmony between tangy and sweet. The crust? It’s a crispy dream, uniformly thin from edge to edge. You can hold it by the crust and it stands firm, no drooping, no sogginess. Once you’ve tasted this pizza paradise, you’ll never want to go anywhere else. Trust me, give Mateo’s a try! 🍕🎉

I order food today at 5:38 via the app. With a approx wait time of 45 minutes. It is now 8:57 and not only is the food not here they won't even answer their phone. And we're one of their most avid customers. So to say the least I'm extremely disappointed. They open and I figured a 2 hour wait being it is the 4th of July. However, that excuse is long expired. $65.85 spent with a dollar fifty of that being a convenience fee. So much for that. Dark times when you can't get your once favorite food delivered to a house they've been to on numerous occasions. IDK what else to even say and this is my only way to communicate what I'm saying to anybody that give a damn. Outside of me driving there myself just to have them a driver is out there somewhere with your order. So again, not sure what the right play is. I'll end it at that before my hunger ends it in a less cordial manner. TY and best hopes to anybody else going through something...
