Taco Palenke Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Jackson

We had a mini meet for lunch at the new Mexican restaurant Taco Palenke. Big place, can definitely hold large groups. They have a small bar area and a condiment bar where you can load up on salsa and fresh toppings.

The marinade on the meats were good, but some was a hair over cooked. The tortillas were great! It was my first time having crispy potato tacos. Potato roughly mashed in a crispy fried tortilla with lettuce and Mexican cheese. it was very light, I really enjoyed the texture of it. Now the Chicken Pechuga Pueblana was delish! The thin sliced chicken breast was perfectly grilled, seasoned, and super moist. I'm not sure what the green sauce on it was, but I can taste some cheese in it, we all really enjoyed the chicken dish. My favorite out of everything though, was the Spanish rice, I want a plate of that to go.

Best tasting Mexican food in the Jackson/Ridgeland area! Been meaning to leave a review as we eat here often, but today I tried their Molcajete and it really left a lasting impression on me! We had guests from out of town with us and they all truly enjoyed their dishes. The flavor of all of their meat is second to none and the value of their dishes are impressive as we all always leave with leftovers. As of today, I can confirm they have their liquor license, so you can now order margaritas too, not just beer. Margs were good. Their salsa and chips beat any other Mexican place as well. Their tagline is something like, authentic food served in an unathentic way. The food is brilliant, rootsy and without all the nonsense. The staff is very small so be patient, it's worth it. You're given a menu when you walk in and then you walk to the bar to place your order. Seating varies from bar to booth. There are no table chips so don't look for them. They have a toppings bar for their tacos that has several homemade salsas that each have their own flavour and heat. XX is their only beer on tap but have a few others in cans.
