I grew up eating here throughout the years. It had been a while since I was last there. Unfortunately, it will be a much longer time before I will go back, if I do. The food today was ok, not much flavor. The real issue is when I bit into a piece of "plastic" like substance in the peach cobbler I was eating. My dinner guests and I got the server's attention to let her know what I had discovered. She looked at it, and like us, wasn't sure what it was, but would let the Manager know. Needless to say, I wasn't going to eat anymore of the cobbler. We get the check and saw that the cobbler wasn't on it, and thought good, I wasn't going to be charged for compromised peach cobbler. We get up to give the server the money for our meal, and she stated that the cobbler wasn't on the check, and we said "thank you", only for her to say she "needed to add it to the check". In disbelief, we asked her if she really was going to add partially eaten, bad cobbler to the check? She then stated that she was going to go ask the manager about it, and then in the process of doing so, she said nevermind, we were good. We paid our check, and left. The real disappointment here is that the Manager didn't even bother to come out and speak to us about the issue. Total lack of customer service. People are wanting to get out, go to restaurants, and try to get back to normal. If this is how Famous Amos is going to deal with issues regarding the food that they serve, I highly recommend going somewhere else. There is no telling what you...

Furthermore, there was another Afro American couple that was there when we arrived that had not been seated as well. Finally, after 2 White women and a White male party came in the waitress came over and told the White party they could be seated at the table for 3 people. I advised the waitress that we were there before they came in and their party should not have been served before us. She apologized by saying she "thought we were placing a order to go". It does not matter if we were placing an order to go, both individual Afro America parties of 2 were clearly there before the White party arrived and we should have received service before them. Of course, after receiving such poor and tasteless service, we left the establishment never to return again!
I hope that this is not a practice that is the norm for the Famous Amos Restaurant on 8265 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 3221 to totally ignore Afro American Customers. ALL PAYING customers" monies are GREEN and my skin color should...
Read moreThe place was packed; not an issue it was Mother's Day, but our waitress didn't bring all of our food.
I ordered the baked chicken dinner which is supposed to come with cranberry sauce. I didn't get any cranberry sauce.
I would have made an issue of it but being that she couldn't even bring something as simple as honey mustard after two requests, for my sister's meal, made it seem a lost cause to complain about missing cranberry sauce.
We sat probably z good twenty minutes before our waitress acknowledged us. She then asked us if we were ready to order but had never brought any menus.
She then brought menus and waited another 10-15 minutes to take our order.
Our food finally came out and it tasted good but again, just missing dressing.
We finished our meal and sat for about 15 minutes. We didn't know if we were to pay at th he table or not so we went to the cash register to pay. Several waitresses looked our way, but none came to check us out.
Finally our waitress came to ring our bill.
The experience could have been a lot better. In my opinion, they need more wait staff on hand, especially being a holiday like...
