Royale Cafe — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Tried Royale Cafe for lunch since I had a taste for Jamaican food. The cafe has a small dining area with maybe 5 tables if you want to eat in. It appears that they are creating a nice outdoor space for patrons to enjoy in the near future. I ordered a large jerk chicken meal with peas & rice, steamed cabbage and plantains. Pros: the cabbage were great! I love the touch of carrots and red bell pepper in them! The jerk chicken was all dark meat so it was juicy and not too spicy. They gave plenty for 2 on a large order.

Cons: The peas & rice are a joke! Don’t opt for theirs if you are used to authentic peas& rice cooked down in coconut milk and seasoned with thyme.. Nah suh! Not here. They taste nothing like the real thing. It seemed like they were out of a lot of stuff but it was 2:00 pm when I got here.

I would definitely eat here again to try other dishes...

Unfortunately, the food I ordered through UberEats was canceled at the last minute. I scheduled an order through UberEats at 4:45PM, to be delivered between 6:30-7:00PM. The order was accepted and my credit card was charged. At 6:45PM I attempted to track my order on the UberEats app. There was no option to track. At 7:00PM, I received an email that my order was canceled. No reason given, just that the order had been canceled and my credit card would be refunded. I then attempted to place a phone order directly with the restaurant, but multiple attempts to call over a 30 minute period only resulted in busy signals. I went elsewhere. The problem may lie with either UberEats or the restaurant, but I doubt either will admit responsibility. Have plan B ready if you venture to have your...

The music was poppin outside set up was great. Nice vibe the night we were there. Our 1st time there visiting with family. They did set up the bar super late. Food was hot and delicious after we got it but it took 2 hrs to get it cause they sold out or didn't have enough prepped. Cash outside bar only you have to go inside after placing a drink order if using a card and bring the outside bartender the receipt. Communication was way off to me just not enough staff for all the business you received. The young lady bartender was doing her best to help things flow well.
