Uncle Charlie's Sandwiches Inc. — Restaurant in Jacksonville

First of all when I call first to ask if u have something u not only say u have it but I confirm again then order it. Then drive 15 min to get there to be told they don't make these sandwiches even though they have plenty of chicken to make one lol what a joke. But worst was the owner walking around carrying 2 sandwich in bare hands with then sandwiches being held against his big sweaty white teeshirt...then he sets one down on the counter to answer the phone..grabs a pen..moves somethings and then reaches over and picks the other sub back up. Grosss!!! And then when I say I called ahead and ask and im a cancer patient just started eating again and I was really looking forward to it. Yhey say...NOTHING. NO SORRY. No offer of something else or have a drink for your troubles. Nothing. If u don't care what touches your food. And nasty big sweaty bellies touching it..go here. Prices...

Temporarily three stars, I was disappointed but I am willing to accept it may have been bad luck so I will try again. Got a steak sub and cannoli, it tasted fine but wasn't what I was expecting (comparing it to a different place I went a lot as a kid on the other side of the river). Just a sort of plain taste on both counts. Plus the price, but I'll concede if I was worried about price there are things I could order that aren't steak-filled. I enjoyed the open kitchen, it felt nice being able to tell what was happening. I like that both people seemed really good at memorizing what orders people had, and were efficient in making those orders. In the future I'm gonna try to get a pizza and see if I enjoy that more. I love this place! I've o ly been here a handful of times but it's one of those small mom-n-pop joints that wants to do nothing else Tham serve you great food. And boy do they! The puzzas are great, the subs are great and the Italian dishes are great. There's nothing bad on the menu. My wife likes the Uncle Charlie's special (sub) and I'm all about the Philly Cheesesteak. And these days, you'd be hard pressed to find a large steak onion cheese mushroom w double meat for less than $10. But here it is! And it's perfect. The bread is soft and fluffy with a crisp crust. It's delicious. The atmosphere is simple, bordering on rustic but it's a no-frills come for the food and table talk kinda joint anyway. In the end, nothing to complain about.
