Decent coffee experience. I take a star away for it being a franchise and not an original/local establishment. The coffee was good but not memorable. Points for having their roster on site and batches of fresh beans for sale.
I was able to speak with the roaster (stepson of the owner), and he was friendly. I did not find much on where the beans were sourced or if they champion direct trade or fair trading with coffee farmers.
My drink: I ordered a Shot in the Dark (aka Depth Charge on their menu). I had a friendly chat with the barista about the name of the drink and what it's been called in other shops that I've frequented. The drink itself was largely forgettable. The coffee was nothing special and there was no depth in flavor with the double espresso shot. Good, not great, and I'll take a star away for that. The menu looked decent, but no pronounce slow bar. The benefits of a slow bar in a roastery worth its salt, is that a slow bar coaxes all the flavors out of the coffee as possible. This often requires the shop to be meticulous about the beans they're roasting and the flavors they are producing.
The feel of the shop, was obvious. The only thing that set it apart from a SBUX was the roaster and bags of green beans in the shop. I'd take a star away, but I like the flare of having the roaster on site and up front. Kudos.
Good coffee joint, in a pinch, however there are better...
Read moreMenu to order in the drive through doesnât have the âeverything bagel crescentâ listed on it, only posted on a window in the drive through(after you order). So last time I came through I didnât see it until the window and was told it was too late to change my order. No big deal, Iâll try it next time. Fast forward to today. I am a picky eater so I specifically asked what came on the sandwich and after given my options I chose cheddar cheese, BACON and egg. (On the crescent) my first sandwich I had to pull around and wait for only to get home and it be a bagel with sausage. I called them and drove back since itâs not very cheap($15 for a sandwich and coffee). I get there, they âfixed itâ I get home - crescent with SAUSAGE, egg and cheese. I donât know why I was asked what meat I want or even wasted my time going back to get the same thing on a crescent. Not only that but the picture on the window HAS BACON. Just frustrating, second shot at trying it wasnât really worth the time and money I wasted going back and forth. Ended up tossing the sandwich and going to scooters for an everything...
Read moreSo, I came in this morning to pick up an order for a customer. I'm an independent contractor for a food delivery app. I've been here several times for that purpose. The service is usually curt and slow. The customer I picked up for asked me to grab some cutlery since their IHOP order came without it. I turned my car around, parked, and came back in. I told this to the girl at the register. She then proceeded to tell an older gentleman, I assume he's one of the owners or management of some kind. He said "She can go ask IHOP." I was stunned. This customer had just spent at least $20 on her drinks from your business and you can't give her some 33 cent cutlery? (The average cost of restaurant to-go cutlery is 11 cents.) She asked for 3. I had hoped to try this place sometime when I was off work, but if this is how you treat customers you won't be getting any of my money. Not...
