We just had lunch here at Nick' Family Restaurant, My fiancee and I love this place but theres 2 waitresse today who were very rude, (waitress with purple color hair ) start vaccuming the floor while customers still eating, we asked the other waitress nicely if she can tell the other to stop doing that , she asked me back and said " why is it bothering you ? " I told her its noisy and the dust is flying in our food , she did stop for a minure , then she did it again,There's still 8 customers including us that's still eating , I went personally and asked her if she can stop vacuuming, she look at me angrily, but she did stopped. I told her we will be out of there in five minutes. It's about 20 minutes before 2pm But , those 2 waitresses were laughing and enticingly antoginizing us , then when I paid the bill we didn't leave any tip , which I feel bad coz we usually give waitresses a good tip. Then ,when we walk out the door the other waitress loudly said, waitresses wor king for a tip, Her voice was very loud that we can hear it outside the door and she's not even our waitress, Theres still some customers inside when she rudely making that comments. The manner of those 2 waitresses are very inappropriate. I told my fiancee that I can't wait to get out of there. I have never been in restaurants that waitresses are vacuuming while you're trying to eat and enjoying the meal. We thought customers have the right to enjoy the meals without listening to loud vacuum and having dust flying in our food.

Read moreI do a lot of travelling and try to avoid mainstream restaurants...the chains...the ones where it always tastes the same. Found Nick's Family Restaurant today...it will be my "go-to" when passing through Jefferson City. I had my own little flashback of going to grandmas to have dinner with each little bite I took. The chicken is remarkable....fresh and crispy and tastes like grandmas - who did the cast iron pan fry method. The potatoes and gravy were clearly homemade...just the way grandma made back in the day....not perfectly smooth.....but having tiny pieces of potato incorporated to remind you they are made by hand and to share some love due to the extra effort needed....no box! Soft fresh bakery bread to sop up the white gravy.....made for yet another flashback. It's nearly 100 degrees today....but the crisp fresh vinegar/oil made by hand slaw cooled you off nicely...and the subtle sweetness of the slaw made you crave more! Lastly....the staff didnt treat you like a "customer".....I felt like I was more over at a friends house having a bite to eat....I felt treated a bit more like family.
I give Nick's 10/10 stars...but since this rating is only up to 5 stars.....read this review twice!
Restaurant hours of operation are split....so go at the right...
Read moreWe have a family size of 6, which was our first problem, as we didn't make a reservation- though the entire room we were in was empty (the entire time we were there, so we we're not interfering with anyone else's reservation) We were treated like second class citizens, all the huffs and puffs from frustration of a family not making a reservation! How ludacris it was for us to show up to a "family" restaurant and be treated as such for having a "larger" than normal family!
Our daughter ordered a plate with ham- which was dried almost to the point of being jerky. My husband and I ordered a plate with fish, green beans and mashed potatoes- the beans were from a can, and the mash was from a box as mine still had dried potato flakes in it, they also tasted like paste.
We had multiple people come to wait on us, and I'm not sure if their servers were inept or overwhelmed, but the one of the servers would ask us a question and she would come back with the wrong drink, or with food we didn't order, then we another would cone we would ask for what we had originally asked for and no one came back to the table!
I don't have a clue as to why this place has such a...
