I demand a Federal and City investigation on such a place, where if you are not Polish, you are severely discriminated against! This is the most horrible place to go, if you are not Polish. Totally unfair! This is the United States, and all people must be treated equally and fair. Customer service is severely lacking, but racial discrimination must not be tolerated. I will report also to the I-Team and other agencies on how rude the staff is, especially against non-Polish patrons. I hope the owner reads this review, and attempts to straighten the place out. This kind of behavior needs to be held accountable. Asians beware! This place is not for you - my experience was with an Asian person that was treated with the most disgusting of racially biases comments and words - made them cry to the point where they came to me for assistance. I beg the Feds and the City of Chicago to investigate my claim on behalf of all races to be treated fairly while choosing a place to shop. I noticed there were other reviews reflecting my claim. GOOGLE - can you please help spark the investigation that we are seeking on such...
Read moreI've lived in Gladstone Park nearly 3 years and I wish I'd checked Andy's Deli out sooner. Many interesting vegan foods including crackers, sunflower bread, many pickles and mushroom varieties, and ajvar. I love that many of the Polish and Ukrainian imports are very clearly labeled as vegan.
Small, but serviceable produce section. I couldn't quickly find anything that seemed vegan in the fresh prepared food section but it's possible I missed something.
For heartier fare, I found frozen vegan potato pyzy (dumpling), kluski, and blueberry pierogi. I purchased a few drinks, but so far I've only tried the matcha kombucha which was refreshing. At checkout, the woman at the register was kind.
Most exciting to me were the fresh pickle tubs. The pickles I got were among the best I've ever had; huge, garlicky, with a perfect snap. I'll be back soon for more.
Heads up to fellow vegans: the fresh bread looked great, but after flipping most of them over, all had buttermilk as...
Read moreService is poor! I visited the store for the fist time and stood there with the service number in my hand for nearly 15 minutes staring at them in hopes they will at least ask a basic question: Are you being help? They just paced back and forth in a rushed manner some serving customers( great) others just doing things hard to figure out who was that for or simply idly . As a result, my number got passed when finally I raised my voice and told them my number in English and got what I needed. I spoke in English, they talked back in Polish( I don't speak Polish). I have a strong feeling, they intentionally avoid speaking English. Really people?! Everyone knows few words in English here and there. Are they trying to say: Don't come here again? Have a feeling this is what a communist service like. Would never want to work there! Produce, however is great! If you wish to visit that store, be sure...
