Tucked away on Northwest Highway in Chicago, Baked by Jane is a warm, inviting bakery café that blends homemade comfort with elevated, creative flair. From the moment you walk in, the charm of this place is undeniable—cozy decor, friendly staff, and the comforting scent of fresh-baked goodness set the tone for an experience that feels like home.
The menu offers a well-curated mix of breakfast bites, handcrafted sandwiches, and standout baked goods. Today, I tried the Avocado Toast topped with tomato, greens, and a light drizzle of balsamic that pulled it all together. It was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without being heavy.
They also offer a variety of grinders, like the Hot Ham N Cheese with a house-made specialty sauce, or the Caprese Sandwich with mozzarella, tomato, and a balsamic glaze that adds just the right touch of tangy sweetness.
But the real stars here are the bakery items. Every treat is made in-house with a brown butter base that takes everything to another level. The cupcakes are phenomenal—favorites like Cookie Dough, Red Velvet, and Lemon Tart are beautifully moist and rich in flavor. You can tell a lot of care goes into each one, and the rotating selection keeps it interesting. Don't skip the Mini Cheesecake Bites or the Brookies (brownie-cookie hybrids that are dangerously good).
Drink-wise, they have a full coffee bar and a lineup of refreshers and smoothies. I recommend pairing one of their flavored lemonades (peach and lavender were my picks) with your snack of choice. It’s the perfect mid-day pick-me-up.
Whether you’re here for a quick coffee, a brunch date, or a sweet treat to take home, Baked by Jane delivers consistently delicious food in a welcoming environment. They also offer gluten-free options and rotate new flavors weekly, so there's always something new to try.

Read moreI never leave reviews so this is my first Google review from a tertiary email account. Baked By Jane deserves 10 stars! It’s so nice to have a local cafe that is owned and operated by someone from the neighborhood and who genuinely cares and not some Starbucks or Dunkin. The drinks are great, the food is great, the people are great. Could I buy chai mix myself and save money? Sure. Can I buy a friendly and positive person who smiles at 6am and gives me a small boost of positive energy before my long day? Probably not. Support this wonderfully local small business! And leave them a tip. They deserve it!
I haven’t tried everything yet but definitely go for the breakfast sandwich, the brookie, the poppyseed muffin…it’s all good stuff. Small variations in the flavor every now and then just means it’s an actual person making the stuff,...
Read moreBeen waiting to check this place out for a while now. Place is nice but nothing seems to last here for some reason. If you're in the area, stopping by for a sandwich for lunch is sufficient and had no issues with the 2 sandwiches I got, turkey and a roast beef. As of right now I wouldn't go out of my way for it though. The cookies were pretty amazing. The muffins were very disappointing. Was expecting some nice large muffins with your ideal muffin top to peel off but they were 2 tiny 1.5 inch muffins in a bag. Everything is just small there I guess sizeflation effects everyone I. Won't be too critical and give them.some time to adjust. Will definitely be back for some espresso drinks on my...
