A group of Friends of Library Book Warehouse volunteers go out to dinner after work during our open season. Last night, one suggested a place he'd heard about on internet--River Rock in Bellville. It's one of those small town places you pass by all the time, but know little about. We actually drove around the building 3 times in the dark trying to figure out the parking lot and entrance, but we made it! (Fyi, door is on the south side and lots of easy parking out back.)
None of us had any expectations. We were all blown away!😃👍
A couple of us can't sit on barstool height chairs, so it was great to find plenty of regular tables. Plenty of TV's to watch the games, separate bar area and lots of tables full of friends talking and laughing.
Enjoyed friendly, smiling staff who patiently helped us newbies order and gave suggestions. We ended up ordering more than usual for a new-to-group place--drinks, beers on tap, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, breaded mushrooms, clams, even New York strip steaks. That's a huge thumbs up to management for taking care of their staff so they take care of your customers!
Drinks were cold, glasses kept full, appetizers hot and tasty, good size crisp side salads (but I miss Thousand Island dressing 😭), the big baskets of handcut fresh fries were out of this world (none of us left any behind😋)... and the steaks..oh, the steaks...were all top notch perfect!👍👍
Perfect place to wind down and warm up after a busy, long, cold day. We will definitely be back!...
Read moreI am a DSP, I have an individual with a service dog. We drove the 40 minutes to this venue, Because they love live music. We did not know how to get into the outdoor area so we walked through the front door. Where the bartenders said we could not be there because of the dog. I said oh we’re just trying to go to the outside part. She then proceeded to say no dogs were allowed inside or outside. I said it’s a service dog. She said it did not matter. I said seriously not even a service dog? If you patrons of the restaurant proceeded to say that’s illegal out loud. The bartender then proceeded to question if it was actually a service dog, he was wearing his proper harness and we also were carrying a bag that stated service dog. After a few minutes of people saying that’s illegal the lady said go ahead. My individual did not realize what was going on and just enjoyed the music. But this place is obviously not service dog friendly, And we will not be...
Read moreParty of 4 and while the place was a little busy due to upcoming OSU game, that's still no reason for 2 bacon burgers come out not fully cooked and the bacon was barely cooked. The chicken tenders from the tender basket looked as though they had been fried numerous times. The fries were all cold and the bacon on the pizza looked as though they cut up packaged bacon and expected the pizza oven to cook it (basically it wasn't cooked either). The server took care of us for the most part, although I did ask him for a rag so that we could wipe off the table since it had not been cleaned (I recognized he was busy and advised we would do it to help him out). All-in-all, a poor experience and probably won't be back. It took about an hour to even get our food and from the temp, it felt as though it had been ready 30...
