UPDATE SUMMER 2024: Google thinks I need to update my review. So, go to Lucky Thai for dinner. It is packed at lunch. Take your own beer /wine and enjoy a nice home cooked Thai meal.
The lady up front is Noi. She is a sweet lady who is very attentive.
The Laab Pork is a good alternate for the appetizer and the Pad Gra Pao (Green Bean Thai style with ground pork) has become a regular thing for us
UPDATE January 2024: Google says we came here a dozen times in 2023. I can't say enough about how this is a hidden gem in houston. Don't order all at once. Order the appetizer and soup first. After it arrives, order the rest
Best meal combination is as follows
Thai Noodle Soup (Chicken) Papaya Salad
Pananag Curry Fish or Pork Pad Ke Mao (chicken or pork) Green Beans with ground pork Pad Prik King Chicken or Pork
Notable altenatives: Tom Yum Soup, Eggplant with Pork, Pad se Ewe (noodles), Green Curry (Chicken or Pork)
This place is BYOB. Bring your own alcohol, she doesn't charge a set up fee.
EARLIER (2022, 2023) REVIEW.
Favorites are the curries, soups, salads, most of the entrees. The pork takes up flavor the best.
The fried fish is good but market price causes the portion to be small. The fish in curry is a better option. Appetizers are okay
UPDATE: Been here half a dozen times now. Good food. Good friendly service.
Dumplings are okay, nothing special. Pad Thay ... good, nothing special Green Curry, excellent Pad Prik King Fish (Swai), excellent. Papaya Salad, good Thai Noodle Soup, different and nice Dumping Soup, OK nothing special Crab Fried Rice, Imitation crab. Ok.
Pleasant surprise. Really good food. Good service. Had fish in curry, the papaya salad, eggplant, appetizer sampler. All very good. Added pork to the eggplant. Flavors were all good. Got 3 out of 5 on spice level and it worked out for all of us. I had to add some...
Read moreLucky Thai has become my favorite Thai restaurant in Houston. Living near downtown, I drive all the way to Lucky Thai because it is certainly worth the drive. We had been going to another Thai restaurant nearby and we decided one day to try Lucky Thai. Boy oh boy, we were surprised. You can see that two ladies who run the restaurant and cook the food really want the restaurant to succeed. All of the dishes we have ordered have been very good and certainly better than most Thai places. My favorite dish is Pad See Ew with beef. It's the best I can remember having from any Thai restaurant. I have ordered it every time we have dined at Lucky Thai and it has always been consistently good, fresh and delicious. My friend likes the "three flavored fish." Delicious and a quality dish that is more than for one person. We have tried several dishes including the panang curry, pad thai with shrimp, beef salad, labb beef salad, papaya salad, Tom yum chicken and spring rolls. All of them have been very good and we have loved everything that we have ordered. Lucky Thai is a small restaurant, Their business is mostly at lunch or during the day. At night or for dinner, mostly is take out but the dining area is still open if you wish to dine in and enjoy a tranquil and peaceful setting. Last night, we were treated to fried banana. It was simply out of this world! I am not a real fan of fried banana, but this was very good. I would, without a doubt, recommend Lucky Thai to anyone who wants a delicious, quality meal. I have not been disappointed and don't think you would be either. The ladies there work very hard and would certainly appreciate...
Read moreI absolutely love this place! I live in Katy, but I'll make the drive here when I'm in the mood for Thai. I've tried many places, but this one is the best in my opinion!
I've had their chicken Pad Se Ewe, chicken Tom Yum soup and shrimp one as well, Yellow Curry with shrimp, Calamari, Lettuce Wraps, and Orange Chicken. Every dish was so tasty with lots of delicious flavor! I can't express how yummy their food is.
And then we had desserts! I love me some mango sticky rice! They didn't have it this time, so we tried the custard one and it did not disappoint. Pretty sure I'll be ordering both the next time I come. We also had the fried bananas. It's made like an egg roll and stuffed with banana, coconut and almonds. I'm not a fan of coconut, but I enjoyed this dessert very much.
If you're near this place, you must try! Your tummy will be happy! And the people that work here are so sweet and helpful! I enjoy this place every...
