Spent a while reviewing their menu on the official site which is not very user-friendly. Finally called in to ask a couple of questions and was put on hold for 6:16 minutes. Hung up and called back in. I was told I would have been called back eventually. Wow.
I asked if they had an online ordering site because the site I was on, did not. They gave me an updated site. I called to ask a couple of more questions and the girl did not seem very in-tune with what they offer. We were in the mood for wings, and our go-to, Chuns Cafe, is closed on Sundays and I finally gave up on Doordash, so we ordered wings and soup and a couple of other sides.
A few minutes after ordering, I received a call from the restaurant asking for my zip code (which my card issuer asks for - and I like that they do) so I gave it to them despite the fact that they had it as the delivery order address. The girl then told me I needed to present the card and ID to the driver. Between being on hold, their unbearable original website, not being able to get clear and concise responses, I think I'd had enough. We order out EVERY SINGLE DAY and not once had I been asked for ID in the past, and I think I recall a couple of years ago being asked to present the card just once, after which the driver never even asked for it when he arrived. I told the girl that was 'a first' and that I wasn't sure where my ID was. (Seriously, some of you may disagree with me, but if I am phoning you from my house, the address and phone number matches the bank address of record, and the bank accepts the charge, why do I need to show a stranger my ID)? The girl then told me they could not deliver, which was fine. I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, i.e., "Big Mistake". Read moreFirst: when you read a good review of someplace online you have to wonder, is it legit or some kind of "plant" sent there by the restaurant. (I know, I'm suspicious like that, too.) I am 100% not related to this restaurant or any employees, I just stumbled on it today and this is my totally unbiased, legit review.
That being said: I had lunch at New China Garden today - we were a party of three, and we really enjoyed the food, the VERY generous servings for the price, and the fast and friendly service! Our server answered our questions about a side dish, recommended some flavored coconut waters that we loved, and she was very attentive to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was cooked to order, and quickly, too. I eat often at "little hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants" because I find they tend to have the best food - to find one that has that PLUS outstanding service is amazing, like, it just never happens! What a hidden gem!
Tips: their $6.90 lunch menu from 10am to 8pm(!) is an outstanding value - try the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, it comes with a mini spring roll and a canned soda! Brought home way more than half for supper! Also, make sure you put NEW China Garden on Antoine into your map app. And, their menu says they also deliver within 5 miles, with a $12 minimum order before 3pm, or $15 min. order afterward.

Read morel will give them one star and that's only because the food was hot. I ordered the steamed vegetables which isn't something that can be messed up however they neglected to tell me they did not have all the items that comes with the steamed vegetables they were out of or did not have the money to purchase water chestnuts and mushrooms. I did call the restaurant back and asked why I was not told that they were out of items and the vegetables weren’t going to contain certain vegetables. The vegetables wasn’t even fresh! The young lady that answered the phone had the nerve to tell me that she didn't have time to be explaining everything to me. How does she not have time when no one else is in the restaurant? it looks just totally deserted boxes packed up in the dining area half the dining area is a storage they got horrible Garland hanging from the lights half on half off. But you're going to say you don't have time and being very rude when only I asked you if you don't have certain items for the menu you should let the customer know. so they have the option to purchase or not purchase I wouldn't recommend this place and I would never go there again.
