Title: A Disappointing Visit to George's Local Brew
Introduction: My recent visit to George's Local Brew left me thoroughly dissatisfied with both the food and service. While the restaurant had potential, my overall experience was marred by mediocre food quality and poor customer service.
Food Quality: Starting with the appetizers, the pretzel at George's Local Brew was reminiscent of a microwaved supermarket version, lacking the freshness and flavor one would expect. Even the beer cheese served with the pretzel tasted like a generic, canned variety, failing to enhance the overall experience. The only redeeming aspect was the order of wings, which managed to be decent in comparison. However, the accompanying blue cheese seemed to be straight from a supermarket bottle, lacking any distinct flavor.
Entrees: Unfortunately, the disappointment continued with the entrees at George's Local Brew. The horseshoe, Nashville chicken sandwich, and chicken Alfredo all fell short of expectations. The horseshoe, touted as a specialty, was a letdown with its only saving grace being the burger itself. Both the cheese and fries were subpar, with the fries being disappointingly soggy and the cheese resembling the lackluster variety used in the pretzel. The so-called "Nashville" chicken sandwich turned out to be nothing more than a glorified buffalo chicken sandwich, pre-made and smothered in a generic buffalo sauce. As for the chicken Alfredo, it was marred by undercooked noodles and an excessive amount of oil, making it difficult to even identify it as chicken Alfredo. The dish lacked flavor, with the generic white cheese on top failing to contribute any taste. Furthermore, the dish was noticeably lacking in chicken, further adding to the disappointment.
Service and Atmosphere: In addition to the unsatisfactory food, the service and overall atmosphere of George's Local Brew left much to be desired. Throughout our visit, there was a man at the bar who loudly dominated the conversation, disrupting the otherwise quiet environment. Surprisingly, the bartender failed to address this disruptive behavior, leaving us to endure the constant noise. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, most of the staff seemed disinterested and unengaged, with several employees simply standing around. Our waitress was particularly rude, displaying a lack of basic courtesy by neglecting to acknowledge our gratitude, even after multiple expressions of thanks. Instead of attending to customers, she spent the majority of her time socializing with the kitchen staff in the back, neglecting her responsibilities.
Conclusion: Regrettably, my experience at George's Local Brew was far from satisfactory. The lackluster food quality, ranging from mediocre appetizers to disappointing entrees, coupled with subpar customer service and a disruptive atmosphere, made for an overall unpleasant dining experience. I would not recommend George's Local Brew to others seeking a satisfying meal and...
Read moreOn my first night in Jerseyville I googled 'steak', ended up here. I was not disappointed!
The food was great and the bartender friendly. On top of that, the bar was full of decent human beings that were easy to have a conversation with. I knew this was a place I would be returning to!
I have been coming to Jerseyville for a few months now and George's is definitely my go-to place. I am here 2-3 times a week when in town.
Reading through the reviews, it seems a lot of the average to low ratings are from people finding the place too pricey. I am on the road a lot and eat out often, I have to say, some places are worth paying a little more. And tonight, I am drinking a draft special (Blue Moon) for $3. A beer a lot of places charge $5+. It is all relative, but most Thursdays-Saturdays the place fills up with good people listening to good (and free) live music. Apparently plenty of other people feel the same way I do, some things are worth paying a...
Read moreTerrible experience. Out of burgers (this is like 2/3 of their âsandwichâ options). My husband goes to order a chicken sandwich, but wanted a different bun and cheese. Manager comes over and rudely shakes his hands saying âno no no, we donât do that here; you get it like itâs on the menu.â We both order the same chicken sandwich which is supposed to have cheese and bacon. Neither had bacon. Steak fries were burnt. As we were leaving, a party of 3 was walking out without having ordered, saying something about not having burgers. The rude manager says âyou should have gotten here before 9â. Ummm⊠we arrived at 8:10 and you didnât have burgers then. Guess the manager couldnât keep his facts straight with his...
