My wife and I had such a wonderful time at the resort right after the July 4th weekend. We dined at the on-site restaurant multiple times--once for dinner, twice for brunch, and once for a late-night snack--and every meal was exceptional. The food was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared, and the staff was truly top-notch; they were friendly and went out of their way to make our experience special. David, our waiter throughout our stay, was particularly outstanding--friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. He even gave us great recommendations for other places to explore in the area.
The brewery on the premises also impressed us. The beer selection was fantastic, with a variety of IPAs, lagers, and more. We especially liked that you could take home beer by the growler, which was a nice touch. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and we appreciated the attention to detail. Surprisingly, we didn't see very many flies in the outdoor seating area which was nice. The huge ceiling fans and coolers kept everyone comfortable, even on warm, muggy days. To top it off, they had live music on Friday and Saturday nights, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
Overall, our experience was excellent, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a combination of great dining, a fantastic brewery, and a comfortable resort. And the fact that it's dog-friendly was the icing on the...
Read moreThe service here was good and the views are pretty, but the food is awful.
We got “Angry Birds” appetizer which was billed as popcorn chicken in a Szechuan sauce. It was $16 and contained 17 previously frozen chicken nuggets with a syrupy sauce. The portion was huge for an appetizer but I guess they needed to justify the price for something you’d usually feed toddlers.
The venison chili was bland and mediocre. At least they’re not trying to hide how long it takes to run through their pre-made meals, considering they advertise a “soup of the week.” I certainly didn’t order the “creamy chicken” option thinking it could have been made several days ago.
Pizza is available Friday through Sunday and the Pig & Fig option was decent. Breakfast ends at 11 on Sundays, which seems early when many guests are sleeping off their wine adventures from the day before.
Beer was good and I appreciated the recommendation from the server.
It’s clear there isn’t a pastry/dessert chef onsite, as the Red Velvet Cheesecake was like something from Costco. I’m curious how much fresh food is made in that kitchen vs arriving from a Cisco food truck.
Overall: the staff were kind, friendly, and helpful; the outside setup is nice; the food was a big disappointment and I’ll warn friends against...
Read moreI hesitate between 3 and 4 stars but ultimately went for 4 stars because the bruschetta flatbread is that good.
We went for dinner on a Wednesday evening.
It is priced like a higher-end restaurant (our meal for 2 entrees, an appetizer, and 2 drinks was $120) but had “fast casual style service” (the host’s words) where you order food and drinks at the bar. That’s not really acceptable for those prices, especially since there were 5 tables on a Wednesday night when we were there. Easily could have had someone taking the orders. My husband is a restaurant manager of a full service restaurant and agrees. We heard an employee telling a guest that this is just how they have been doing their service recently. It would have made sense if it was a staffing shortage situation but didn’t get that impression from what we overheard.
That being said, the bruschetta flatbread and mahi mahi was AMAZING!!!!! Cannot rave enough about those items. Sadly, the ribeye was overcooked and not seasoned well.
The service we did receive was excellent; Joaquin and the other gentleman at the bar were very friendly.
We would probably try this restaurant again if we were staying at Carter Creek Winery again and would not get the steak, but only if we knew the restaurant was truly...
