I recently had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Empire Biryani & Grille in Johnston, Rhode Island, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience.  The restaurant offers a delightful array of authentic South Indian dishes that are both flavorful and satisfying. Chicken Fry Piece Biryani: This dish was a standout.  The biryani featured tender, juicy chicken pieces that were perfectly fried and layered over aromatic, spiced rice.  Each bite was a harmonious blend of spices and textures, making it a must-try for biryani enthusiasts. Karivepaku Chicken: The Karivepaku Chicken was another highlight.  This spicy and aromatic dish, prepared with curry leaves and peppercorns, delivered a burst of flavors that were both bold and comforting.  It's a testament to the rich culinary traditions of South India. Lasooni Shrimp: The Lasooni Shrimp was cooked to perfection, with the shrimp being succulent and infused with a delightful garlic flavor.  The dish was well-balanced, ensuring that the garlic complemented rather than overpowered the natural sweetness of the shrimp. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, and the staff were attentive and courteous, enhancing the overall dining experience.  For those seeking authentic South Indian cuisine in and around Johnston, Empire Biryani & Grille is a destination worth visiting.

It's been a while since Rhode Island welcomed a truly exciting new Indian restaurant, and Empire Biryani and Grille has certainly filled that void with remarkable flair. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is a delightful surprise. Their earthy themes offer a refreshing departure from typical Indian restaurant decor, adding an immediate sense of excitement to the dining experience. The service was wonderfully warm and pleasant. Everyone, including owner Mahesh and his brother Gani, made a genuine effort to connect with guests, providing a truly personalized touch. Of course, even the best atmosphere and service wouldn't matter without outstanding food, and Empire Biryani and Grille truly excels here. The food was exceptionally good, especially for those accustomed to Indian cuisine, and I'm confident it will be highly appealing to all palates. The fresh ingredients and careful preparation truly shine through in every dish. While they currently offer a limited bar, I understand they plan to expand both their menu and bar selection significantly for their grand opening in a few months. Overall, Empire Biryani and Grille is incredibly impressive and highly recommended. It's wonderful to have such a fantastic new option for Indian food in Rhode Island!

Went to this new place today. The food was excellent. We ordered goat Biryani, goat chukka, chicken Tikka, paneer Tikka and momos 65. All of them were excellent. We asked them to customize all of the dishes with the spice level of mild to medium and they did that exactly without compromising the flavors. Our kids enjoyed the food. The biryani rice was light and fluffy and goat meat was fresh and soft. The goat meat in the chukka was soft and full of flavor. The chicken Tikka and panneer Tikka was soft and juicy on the inside and perfectly charred on the top. The momo 65 spice level was adjusted as well for mild spice. The service was great too. The only issue is the strong wood varnish smell from the furniture. You get used to it after sometime though. Probably need to use some air neutralizer or freshener.

Just tried this newly opened South Indian restaurant, and it really impressed us. While the focus is on South Indian cuisine, we went for some North Indian dishes and were genuinely surprised—both the Shahi Paneer and Paneer Butter Masala were absolutely delicious. Rich, creamy, and full of flavour.

We also tried their biryani, which was really good too—fragrant and tasty. One thing to note: they do go a bit heavy on the masala. When it’s balanced, it’s amazing, but they could tone it down slightly. That said, the portion sizes are excellent—two biryanis were more than enough for three people.

What stood out the most was how clean and well-kept the place is. Unlike many other South Indian restaurants that feel cramped or dark, this one is bright, neat, and has a really pleasant vibe. The staff were super friendly and welcoming too.

A great experience. Hope they continue to maintain the same quality and cleanliness. Definitely...
