Lynn's On Merle Hay — Restaurant in Johnston

Stopped in for lunch maybe a week ago. Service was great, absolutely no complaints there. Bartender was super nice.

Food was alright. Overall I was satisfied, but the burger had a toasted bun that didn't really get toasted as far as it should've, leaving a super noticable butter taste that kind of overpowered the flavor of the rest. In the non-butter bites though, it was very good.

Prices were VERY steep. It's not a high end burger by any means, but it was $13.50 for a half pound, but that DOESN'T include fries unlike other places. It's chips normally, and fries cost an extra $5 on TOP of the $13.50 for the burger. That's just really really expensive and way more than other places. If the fries were included in that $13.50, it'd be completely in line with everywhere else and just fine, but an extra surcharge, especially at that price, is crazy. You don't even really get a lot of fries, either.

Overall, it wasn't a bad place and I certainly don't regret going at all. But those prices are just too high when other places are just cheaper for the same or a...

I enjoy the food here and the people are usually friendly, and even tho it normally takes about 30 min to get an order, the quality makes it worth the wait. So yesterday I took 4 friends in and arrived at 12:55, as i walked in the owner barked "if you're here to eat lunch we close at 1" I asked so do we have time? and the answer was a curt "Nope" and of course we left. So apparently Lynn is far better off financially than her dingy little bar lets on. Her staff has better things to do than cook, and I can find better places to eat, perhaps someplace where the lunch hour is a full 60...

The menu they showed on their website was not the menu we were presented with. Second beer took forever to get to table. My husband had to go up to get it. Up at the bar it appeared that is was all locals and preference for service there. It was so loud even though we were seated across the room. Then a very large person sat down in the booth adjacent to us and the booth moved me towards the table, leaving my chest right up to the table. (I'm not big, size 10).
