I searched high and low for the perfect tasting wedding cake and finally found it at Milanos. The weekend girls that helped us were very nice and accommodating. Due to an unforeseen circumstance I had to change the design of my 1 layer cake a month before our wedding. I showed a picture and the girl informed me I’d have to find my own gum paste flowers if that was the design I wanted. Easier said than done. Finally found some and they cost more than the $60 cake I had already paid for in advance. When I brought the flowers in on a weekday and mentioned to the girl how I didn’t understand why they don’t have a supplier for this kind of stuff she got VERY snippy and confrontational with me saying they can’t house all the decor. Obviously she doesn’t know what a supplier is. When my friend picked up my cake it looked nothing like the picture I gave. The flowers were just stuck on the top instead of cascading down the front and there was no decor piped on. My friend actually took it to a local baker to fix it before the wedding. The cupcakes were supposed to be frosted 2 colors and I got one which was boring, plain white. I forgot to mention the 3 times we were in Milanos we asked to talk to the baker and each time were told she’s busy. I have given 2 stars only because the cake was delicious but customer service and decorations 0 stars. I emailed the company and still haven’t heard back. So disappointed in a 105 year old local bakery I’ve always supported and...
Read moreCame here specifically for a box of cannoli and a cannoli cake that I had custom ordered for my grandma’s 80th birthday. The cake itself was moist and it was designed nicely (hence the two stars,) but the huge disappointment was in the flavor of the cannoli filling. It tasted really sour, and both my grandma and I couldn’t determine if the filling had gone bad, or if they used way too much lemon. I can tolerate a lot when it comes to food, but these were inedible, and 10 of them ended up going in the trash. We had purchased a dozen for roughly $4 each, so tossing these wasn’t a cheap decision to make. The pistachios on the ends of the cannoli were also very clearly not pistachios. They tasted like crushed peanuts that had been dyed green. I know pistachios are expensive but for the price this place is charging for cannoli, the least they could do is not bastardize a classic garnish. And if all of this wasn’t enough, there was hardly any cannoli filling in the cake, about a centimeter in thickness between 2 thick layers of cake (although in this case, it was probably the saving grace since the filling is what tasted so terrible.)
Our whole family is Italian and have been eating cannoli since the beginning of time, so I thought I had hit the jackpot when I found an Italian bakery that had been open for generations. Needless to say, our experience was a complete disappointment and will definitely not be...
Read moreWe hired Milano to do our wedding cake. The cake is amazing, we did not need to try cake anywhere else. All of our friends and family loved it and kept asking where it was from. Their pricing is also fantastic. We had a small 3 tiered cake and a large sheet cake. We were able to have 4 different flavors. I would give them 5 stars if not for the lack of communication and design error. I had to email them 3x and call 2x before I was able to review with them my order prior to the wedding. My cake was not designed/frosted the way I had picked out. I picked out a very simple frosted design from their design book, but each tier had a different design. It was very traditional scroll/ornate designs. While it was pretty and honestly alot more work than what I asked for, it was just not my style and did not go with my theme. I am not sure how/why that happened. I had also requested the tiered cake be placed on a 12 inch cake board so it would fit on my cake stand. I was told they could do this no problem. The cake was placed on a 14 inch board and so it hung over on my stand. Luckily my cake stand was the same gold color as the board so it was not super noticeable. All in all, I would recommend Milano for cakes no matter the occasion. I can't wait to get our 1 year anniversary cake from them that comes with the...
