Ta Canijo — Restaurant in Joliet

I'm basing this review off my experience going there to eat 5 times. By the way this is a taco stand it is not a walk-in or a sit-down restaurant there is no bathroom or anything like that it's a walk up taco truck. Okay here's the deal when the food is made fresh in the condiments are French it is very good however only one out of the five times was my food what I would consider fresh the other four times it wasn't really fresh. Now even when it wasn't fresh it was still pretty dog gone good. No one more thing if I was making this review based off the Fresh Taco visit I would give it 4 stars. I reserved five stars for something that's completely super super great. Now I'm familiar with tacos I eat a lot of Mexican restaurants and other taco places in the Joliet Will County area so I have a good basis of comparison. One more thing I would be careful when you're placing your order one other thing they did get two of my other orders wrong the first time I caught it before I left but the second time I got all the way home and realize they had given me the wrong ingredients on both of two of the three tacos. The flavor is unique the flavor is good when you order they ask you flour or corn tortillas you have to choose one of the other they do not offer a mix. A three-part taco dinner is approximately $7 if you want to add a bottle of coke it's another two bucks. I recommend you try tacos R Us however I can only hope you get it fresh when it's fresh it is superb when it's not fresh it's still pretty dog gone good. I normally frequent this place biweekly; however, I might have to reevaluate. I ordered online 6 minutes before I pulled into the parking lot and waited in the car because I saw some people getting there food. Once they went to there cars, I walked over and told them I was here, by this time I had waited 10 minutes and assumed my 1 burrito and 1 taco were done. I was informed that they had not even been started, and I was supposed to tell them when I got there so they could start MAKING them. To me that does not make sense so I told her it my first time online and I pressed ASAP and not future order. She then stated I should have put a time and then told me to go wait in my car. So I did, I told my mom in the car what she said so we waited a few more minutes thinking it was being made. Ten minutes passed and my mom decided she wanted a pop so I purchased that and asked if my food was ready and it still was not. In the mean time 3 more people ordered. I continue to wait thinking I might be next but instead the 3 people get there food before me, so I asked if my food was ready and she comes back and asks “do you want everything on it,” insinuating that it has not even been prepared yet. I tell my mom and she gets out of the car and now we are the only people in the parking lot. Once we get our food, 30-35 minutes later, we kindly let them know that is does not make sense to write ASAP in the app if I’m not going to get it ASAP. Highly recommend a stop here. These tacos were fresh, they have only one salsa they call it mild red and it has plenty of flavor and kick. The corn Tortillas were on point, red onions diced to perfection, fresh Cilantro and generous meats. Ordered the steak, shredded chicken and pastor, and a veggie (with refried beans). They came in a timely fashion in nice containers sealed with napkins. Cool taco truck Sliced in half on the front of the building was interesting and unique. Prices were reasonable and service was good. Quite a few locals were cycled through in order while we were there.
