This really is not a bad spot for wings. There are some issues, which I will touch on later in the review, but I believe they could be resolved as they get the routine down and hire additional staff. The menu is extremely eclectic and has a variety of things from wings, to chicken strips, fish, seafood boils, salads, and sandwiches. In addition to those options, they have combos that include things like lo mein and fried rice. The wings can be prepared in about a dozen different flavors and the boils can be prepared in about half a dozen different flavors along with varying spice levels. They also have a drive thru where you can order food to go.
The time between ordering food and receiving it was extremely quick. I was surprised because we had a big order and I expected a much longer wait. I also noticed drive thru orders going through pretty quickly and other patrons in the restaurant being served their food quickly as well. Definitely a plus here.
I ordered the lo mein and wings combo. I got General Tso flavored wings for a sweet and spicy flavoring but it was more sweet than spicy. The lo mein was good and they give you a heaping amount. My wife got the 10 piece wing combo with fries. She got her wings with honey bbq and noted they were very sweet. She did like the seasoned fries though. The wings were nice sized too and for an additional charge you can choose all flats or drums. My daughter got the 1/2 pound shrimp boil which included corn but that wasn't noted on the menu. She said the boil could have been seasoned more but she enjoyed it. My son got JJ's net which came with 1 pound of shrimp, 1 pound of crawdads, sausage slices, 2 boiled eggs, corn, and potatoes. He noted the same thing about seasoning as my daughter and also said he would have preferred more spice so next time he'll get more seasoning and a spicier option. Overall, the food was good and worth the price paid for it.
The only knocks that I could see against this restaurant are possibly the location. It doesn't bother me but I know some people who would be wary of eating at a place on this side of town but it's really not not an issue. The inside was very plain and they only had one soda fountain station without unsweetened tea as an option. They seem to be short staffed too which was causing an issue with in-person and call in orders but not a huge problem here. The staff was mostly friendly and didn't hesitate to answer questions we had concerning the menu. Also, you're not going to be served here. You prepare your own drinks, they call out your order number, and you pick it up. You can eat in the restaurant or take it home, all orders are prepared in to-go containers. Most places that offer boils also offer bibs and gloves to keep yourseld relatively clean as well but this place did not.
Overall, there are some negatives but they're outweighed by the positives. Hopefully, with time, the place only gets better. We will...
Read moreExcellent, excellent, excellent!!! Highly recommend! We’ve been wanting to try JJ Wings and we’re not disappointed. I got the lo mein with general tso’s and it was great! Huge portions at a great price. My husband got a 10 wing (Cajun ranch is the flavor he got and OMG seriously good) combo with seasoned fries and our son got the chicken tenders with Cajun fries. Again, huge portions. The young lady working is so sweet! She showed us a delicious drink combo because I don’t drink carbonation. There are 3 fruit drinks that you combine to get what is called “kikipoo.” It’s great! Kid approved! They have a good variety of options even for the vegans out there as well! College students, it’s a good price with a lot of food so y’all should check it out! We are...
Read moreSo, one review already stated that the wings were small and they are. I didn't get a good pic of them but they look like baby chick 🐥 wings not full-grown chicken 🐔 wings, lol. I chose fried rice as my side. The serving of rice was generous but this isn't true fried rice, it's just rice cooked with soy sauce and a little bit of eggs. I like to try a place various times so i will be back to try other things but not the wings. If you want wings just go to Wings To Go or one of the other wing places in town. I also didn't find anything Korean about the wings, not sure what i missed 🧐. The woman at the drive thru was friendly...
