I kept making excuses in my head for them, but they didn't deserve a one of them. The setting was nice, though poorly laid out as we ended up sitting practically underneath another table. What actually went wrong was just a lot of disorganization on their part. I ordered a sandwich with a side salad, and the friend ordered a dinner salad and wings, and we ordered a totcho appetizer. The first thing to come out was the friend's dinner salad. It was called a dinner salad, he ordered it as part of his dinner, but it still came out before anything else. It looked bad, and I was told it was as bad as it looked. It was a sad bed of lettuce with some kidney beans and a couple of odd vegetables not even cut to the right size.

The totchos came out next, and I liked them, though they weren't really totchos, as they were made in a way that couldn't be eaten without a fork. That wasn't only the highlight, though, it was the only thing that wasn't bad. My food came out, and it was a tri-tip salad, when I had ordered a tri-tip sandwich with a side salad. Things happen, but he decided that I needed to be told not just then that he thought I said the salad, but then he decided to come back and tell me again that he thought I said it. I am pretty sure I even saw him write it down right, so he could have blamed the kitchen if blame was so important to place, but instead he needed to call me out on it twice. I know I didn't order it, but it's possible he misheard me, but don't make a big deal out of it.

Then, after quite some time, the friend's wings came out along with another plate of food, but that was apparently just to trick me into thinking I was getting my food, because that came out a while after. He did apologize a few times (one time was plenty, if even that), but my problem wasn't that my order was wrong, it was that we got half a meal, then the appetizer, then the other half of a meal, and then mine. Timing is crucial at a restaurant, and they didn't have it.

To top it off, a good 15-20% of the tri-tip in my sandwich was inedible. If you're putting it in a sandwich, you need to make sure it's all good. Plus, my salad was with the odd choice of kidney beans, which I can't eat. I wouldn't have thought to ask "does your side salad have kidney beans on it?"

I about gave up getting the check, but he was coming out with it as I was going inside to pay, but we ended up missing our next plans because of everything that went wrong here. Had the food been even a little good, the disorganization wouldn't have been as big of a deal, but there just was nothing redeeming about...

We have been coming to Joseph for 9 years and eat at Embers just about every year. We have always had a good experience, good food, and friendly staff—until this year. July 2023 will be the worst experience I’ve had at Embers (or any restaurant for that matter). I realize we come to Joseph every year the week after Chief Joseph Days and the town is spent. People are tired of people-I get it. But we have always supported the local businesses, do a lot of shopping and eat out at least twice while we camp all week (ALWAYS at La Laguna and Embers). Our family is so disappointed with Embers this year. The waitress was not pleasant (we are so sorry we touched the umbrella and stopped as soon as we saw the sticker under the umbrella that said not to touch it), all our food came out cold, one person in our party got his food after everyone else was about done eating. People that ordered after us were served before us. At least three people in our party didn’t feel well later that evening. This is the first time in the history of me being an adult (eating out and tipping), that I left a horrible tip and verbally expressed how horrible the food and service was. The server lost out on a big tip, and could have been bigger had she checked back more than once to get more drink orders. It seems like the food service industry has gone completely downhill these last few...

Starting out there's no sign saying wait to be seated. But there's just a cluster by the front door and servers ignore you. We finally just asked and got seated and you could tell the server was trying to burn and turn. First time they're and she came 3 mins later along what we wanted to eat. We just ordered drinks and then she came back 2 mins later asking about our food order again. We put in apps but said we were going to wait to order food til we ate the apps. Service was super slow after realizing we weren't just going to eat and run. The food is OK. Looks like just beer no alcohol. We got fried pickles they were good, pot stickers also good. Ordered margarita pizza with NO tomato's add pepperoni. Came with tons of tomatos. You can't even blame it on the food runner cause the server brought the food. Spent 10 mins just pulling all the tomato's out from under the cheese. It's good but over hyped. Slacks would be a much better choice for dinner. There were families waiting and getting irritated being ignored to be seated by servers as well. The bathroom situation is a nightmare. They want you to wait up front by a sign for the 1 bathroom they have. You gave no idea if someone is in there or not. Really just waiting on the servers to let you know and going off how they don't seat people it's a nightmare. I finally just waited for a person that i know used the...

We showed up right when they were slammed busy and shorthanded. We had to wait a little, but it was worth it. It's a little small inside, but they have plenty of outdoor seating as well. We had to sit inside, even though it was kind of a nice day. They were just too busy to serve tables inside and outside, going back and forth from the kitchen constantly with such a small crew. Well, I've worked in food service, in a nice hotel, so I completely understand. Besides, it got really windy anyway! They have 17 microbrew beers on tap and great food choices. We got the Rustic pizza (sub mozzarella cheese for red marinara sauce). Artichoke hearts, fresh spinach and sun-dried tomatoes... generous portions of each topping for a 16" pie! You can try the beers before making your decision. I suspect our wait time was longer than expected only because of the few staff members available and a super slammed restaurant. No complaints.

I wish i could have come here for every meal because everything that went out looked delicious. My friend and I just finished hiking for a few days so this was our first real meal. They have a good selection of rotating beers, I think mostly Oregon beers. We shared the sausage flatbread which was amazing, highly recommend that. It had gouda cheese and pesto. It was also very filling for an appetizer for two. We shared an order of chicken wings and went with the spiciest sauce, which was not spicy at all so that was disappointing...it tasted like franks red hot sauce which is a good flavor but just not spicy like hoping. But again, everything that left the kitchen looked delicious.
