Tequila Grill Kalona — Restaurant in Kalona

Arrived and party of 5 seated at small booth so we asked to move, got moved where they pulled 2 tables together but not enough room for us to face each other at the table and we ended up eating galley style. Ordered and food came super fast and as my steak tacos passed my face, the meat smelled off. I tasted a chunk of meat and really couldn’t telll if it was bad or good. Kids ordered chicken tender kids meals with fries. The chicken tenders like smelled like dog food and they refused to eat them. My husband and daughter ordered the fajita quesadilla and it was the smallest excuse for a quesadillas. We gently complained about the kids meal and offered to pay for the fries. Kids meal was 5.75 And so they took them off and we paid 3.75 for each of them for the fries. I never leave reviews but wanted to warn others so you don’t make the same mistake I did. Absolutely Terrible food. Bland as can be, no flavor at all everyone at my table put salt on there food which is ridiculous at a Mexican restaurant. Service is even worse than the food. I received my tacos after the other 3 people at my table had finished their meals and gotten to-boxes. The waiter blamed it on the kitchen staff. Upon going to the counter to pay because are waiter disappeared my bill was 40 dollars for a the taco dinner and one small margarita that was mainly ice. He informed me the margarita was $15.50, i assume the positive reviews are from people who have never left this small community and have no other choices of place to eat. The food was really good, we had good service-but my husband's order was wrong-we had a had time getting the waiters attention, he was busy visiting with other staff, he finally came over and my husband explained that it was incorrect, but said he would eat it, but he would discount, and that worked, but then when we were done and started to pay bill, he was only taking a small amount off, I said that wasn't enough--for your mistake, well he took some more off, and it was satisfactory, but left a poor taste in our mouths... we will go back, the food was good, but they need to pay attention more to what is ordered....doing your job correctly is important, in any...
