Great local restaurant. Owner works in the kitchen. Prices are very reasonable. There is a small kids menu with burger, grilled cheese, and 2 chicken strips with fries for under $4. Most entrees are under $10, but do not include soups. They have a Facebook page that lists their specials.
Food was typical Americana diner food. It was average for this segment and better than average for the Kankakee area.
Staffing is low so things like getting a table can be awkward. Seating is tight and the place is busy. The place is wheelchair accessible, but it will be tight and there are no automatic door openers. I would highly recommend against bringing in a stroller.
The facility is clean and modern. It is nicer than similar restaurants in the area that smell old or like rancid oil when you walk in. Bathrooms are decent, but are only for one.
Overall, this is a superior restaurant for its class with decent food, a good clean facility, it is locally owned and operated by the owner, and has outstanding prices. No frills here. The negatives are tight, limited seating and no clear way of being seated. If you are a local, it is one of the best...
Read morePer mostly positive reviews, and living close to the location thought to give this place a try. 3 of us went for breakfast and were very disappointed. Only positive thing was our waitress who was very awesome and attentive. Dining area nice, clean with nice decor. I ordered eggs, corned beef hash, hash browns wheat toast. My food was extremely greasy and had an after taste which was most likely from the cooking grease or oil they use. My husband got the country omelette and was very disappointed. Again oily with an after taste. The cubed potatoes were barely cooked, and there was hardly a vegetable in the dish. Potatoes and hash browns seemed like the frozen type that were just heated up quickly. My son also had the same experience with the skillet he ordered. Stated it was greasy and potatoes undercooked. Bill came to 32 bucks for us three which for what we got was totally a rip off for the poor quality of our food. Yolks & Berries in...
Read moreAfter seeing all the great reviews, we were excited to try Julio's for breakfast pickup, but were very disappointed. After tossing a gravy soaked bag of utensils and condiments and wiping down the containers, we dug into some less than impressive biscuits and gravy. The biscuits had a strange texture, like they were frozen and/ or reheated. The sausage pattty was just odd, with a texture that also seemed reheated. My husband got a bite of gravy where the flour had not been cooked out, and couldn't eat anymore after that. My eggs were cooked well and the pancakes were decent, but overall the experience was not good and probably will...
