We were in Kasson to host our son and daughter-in-law's baby shower. We had booked it at the Baymount Hotel in Kasson, Minnesota. We were booked to stay at the Baymount the night before. We got there and there was a horrible, chemical smell, like paint thinner in the lobby. We thought it would pass. We went to Saker's Sports Bar and Grill next door for supper and it was exceptional! The food was wonderful! The people were very nice. Service was fast and efficient. Prices were reasonable. Even the house wine was very good, which isn't always the case at Bar and Grill's. (I'm not a beer drinker by my husband said it was really good!) I had a flat bread, my husband had the ribs. So Great!
After a fantastic supper experience we went back to the hotel and the smell was no better and was throughout the hotel. We discovered they were re-doing the pool but offered no apology and no explanation. We went to bed, got up the next morning because of the smell. The smell throughout the hotel was toxic, making us nauseous and giving us headaches. I went to speak with the manager who was kind and had no idea this was going to happen but we all knew we couldn't even have my 7 months' pregnant daughter-in-law there, much less the whole shower. I was in a panic!
We had noticed Saker's was an event center and that morning at 10:00 when they opened I walked in and asked if there was any chance we could host our shower at 1:00 in their patio area, including decorating, etc...THEY WERE WONDERFUL! Even though we had our own food and most of us weren't drinking alcohol for the event, they offered the patio free of charge and helped out immensely! They were so nice! They really saved the day for us! Of course, I paid anyway because we were so appreciative!
This is an incredible place with wonderful people and I...
Read moreAll I can say is wow. The owner, Tony, served us personally and everything was above and beyond. I had a walleye sandwich with a home made tartar sauce. The fish was light and flaky and tasted fresh! The breading was complimentary and not overwhelming at all. Wife had nachos. The chips were solid and the toppings were plentiful and tasty. Two others shared a Chipotle chicken wrap which was also well received. The fries were hot, light, crispy, and tasty! Four kids each had Alfredo which was home made quality and huge portions! Then Tony brought out the big guns- the pictured desert which was an oreo cheesecake straight out of heaven. Will definitely be ordering for future events/ birthdays.
Overall, it was an absolutely A+ experience. Tony is the type of business owner you feel great about supporting, as his passion is evident in the quality and service. The prices were on par for the typical bar and grill, but the quality was unimpeachable. No question that it is worth a short drive from Rochester for this type of dining experience.
Update: went back after taking the kids to the fair (with the food prices there, you may as well go sit down somewhere) and we were again rewarded with awesome food. It's clear that they have their process down pat when it comes to breaded/ fried foods, as the breading is always light, crispy, and not drenched in oil. The sweet chili wings could have had a little extra heat but I'm sure that's where most prefer them. They were done to perfection, with a crisp outer shell, and a good amount of juicy, flavorful chicken on the bones. I would absolutely recommend this place to any friends and family, as you get what you expect, with the quality that...
Read moreI would be VERY cautious about having your wedding here. 1. Their website shows images of weddings in rooms with domed ceilings. Not that this party was necessarily looking for that kind of space, but there's not a room like that in this venue. False advertising. 2. They double booked for the same space for 2 different weddings, and gave the larger room to the party with less people, even though the larger party requested that room earlier than the other party. 3. They claimed to provide at $10,000 tent for free. If that was a $10,000 tent, Events was taken for a ride! 4. The food was less than adequate. Anyone can open a bag of lettuce and call it a salad. They provided a "discount" and a free candy bar, but if they were smart, and good business people, they would have done WAAAAY more than what they did for their mistake of double booking, throwing 200 people into a tiny room and freezing outdoor half tent. If they were actually good business people, it would have been free. Period. Or at the very least, free except cost of food. I've been in customer service for 20+ years, and know bad service when I see it. Also, I wish I could give no stars, but it won't let me do that...
