My fiance and I came in to eat some sushi and we had high hopes for this place based on its 4.7-star rating, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. We ordered three classic sushi rolls—Shaggy Dog, Philadelphia Roll, and Spicy Tuna—along with an order of gyoza. The only redeeming parts of the meal were the can of Sprite (which came without glasses) and the gyoza, though it was oddly topped with honey mustard. The sushi rolls, however, were extremely disappointing. They had an overwhelming amount of rice, an unexpected honey mustard drizzle, and lacked any real flavor. The Spicy Tuna Roll, in particular, was a complete miss. As I walked to and from the bathroom, I noticed the sushi chef handling his phone, seemingly looking up how to make the roll—raising serious concerns about hygiene. The result was a roll that was poorly executed, with tuna placed on top and garnished with chives (see attached photo). While the restaurant itself was clean and nicely decorated, the food was grossly overpriced for its quality. This was an underwhelming and unsatisfactory dining experience, and I honestly don’t understand how this place has earned such a high rating.

We had the pleasure of dining at Sushi House recently, and although they aren’t officially open for dine-in yet (currently doing take-out only), the owner went above and beyond to accommodate us. From the moment we walked in, we could tell this place is something special. The owner was incredibly kind, making sure we were comfortable and even allowing us to stay past closing time, which we really appreciated. As for the food, it was simply amazing. We ordered the Shaggy Dog roll along with a couple of other rolls, and everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. You can really tell the care and quality that goes into their sushi. The presentation was beautiful, and the ingredients were top-notch. We’ve had sushi from several places around town, but Sushi House has easily become one of our new favorites. We’re thrilled that they’ve opened in our area, and we can’t wait to go back and try more from their menu. It’s rare to find a place that not only serves fantastic food but also provides such a welcoming, personable experience. Highly recommend Sushi House to anyone looking for fresh, delicious sushi and great service. We’ll definitely be back often!

I’ve been waiting for this place to open. The sushi was very good with quality presentation, but it’s way pricey for the environment. The vibe is more like an eatery than a restaurant, and the location is in the middle of a strip mall near a gas station and in between subdivisions. I would come back if they run a Groupon deal or offer specials but otherwise Tobiou has more variety and a better dining experience for the same price. Rolls were $17-19. $13.50 for the kids meal chicken nuggets and fries :( My server was inexperienced, maybe new..she wasn’t familiar with the menu (unagi, California roll) and brought out bottled water (and charged me $1.50) even when I specifically asked for a plain cup of free water.

First of all, this place hasn’t had its official grand opening. I think the owner told us it was going to be on the 22nd or 23 September. My wife and I went on a double date with our friends and my buddies wife called ahead to make sure we were OK to swing by and try their food. Personally, I’m really in my comfort zone when I go to restaurant I’m comfortable with. But I was open minded enough because our friends are the type of people that look for little shops and small restaurants in the Katy area. The menu was pretty straightforward and simple and at first, we were really really cold, but I think the owner might’ve noticed it and turned down the AC slightly for us which eventually made us feel a little bit more comfortable. They don’t have hot tea and they don’t have, any soups.

However, we tried their pork Gyoza and we ordered three rolls. The volcano, the Kobe and the shaggy dog. I’m pretty critical about sushi and I will say this is some of the most impressive best tasting sushi we’ve had at a brand new spot. Apparently, they had their own food truck and in my opinion a lot of the food trucks that I tried that have really decent credibility.

We were so impressed that we are 1000% coming back. The prices were decent. We ordered a Pepsi as well as three rolls and the pork and walked away spending about $70.

We would highly recommend this place. The owner is very kind and fairly attentive. We did wait a while thinking that the owner was going to give us the check at our table, but then asked us to come to the bar where he had his register set up to pay. It didn’t matter to us because we were on a double date with no kids having a blast in conversation. We got there at 7:45 and didn’t leave till 1045.

Again, would highly recommend this place to anyone because you won’t be disappointed.

Sorry, no pictures of the food. We were starving and dug right in before we could...
