I visited Viet Corner recently after seeing so many positive reviews online, and honestly, I left wondering if I had gone to the same restaurant everyone else was raving about. My experience was extremely disappointing across the board.
First and most importantly, the food was terrible. Vietnamese food is supposed to be bursting with fresh herbs, vibrant flavors, and a balance of savory, sweet, spicy, and sour. What I was served completely missed the mark. The dishes were bland, poorly seasoned, and felt like a watered-down version of what Vietnamese food should be. The meats were dry, the broths lacked depth, and the vegetables didn’t taste particularly fresh. Nothing we ordered stood out — and worse, most of it barely tasted like Vietnamese food at all. For a restaurant that claims to specialize in this cuisine, it was incredibly underwhelming.
The service was just okay. The staff was polite but not particularly welcoming or attentive. They took the orders and brought the food out in a reasonable time, but there wasn’t any warmth or effort to elevate the experience. It wasn't bad enough to complain about, but it wasn’t good enough to offset how disappointing the meal was either.
The atmosphere was also strange. The inside of the restaurant felt more like a typical American diner than a Vietnamese restaurant. The decor was plain and generic, lacking any cultural touches that would make you feel like you were about to enjoy a genuine Vietnamese meal. It felt cold and impersonal — definitely not what you expect when you're craving a comforting, flavorful cultural experience.
Given how highly this place was rated, I genuinely don’t understand the hype. Maybe it was a bad day, or maybe my expectations were too high, but based on my visit, the food was subpar, the atmosphere was uninspired, and the service was forgettable.
There are so many better Vietnamese restaurants that offer real, authentic flavors, a more inviting ambiance, and an overall better dining experience. Viet Corner is not a place I would return to, nor would I recommend it if you're looking for good Vietnamese food.

Read moreThis place is such hidden gem. Located next to gas station, it can be accessed through either Morton or Barker Cypress. Menu is diverse with many traditional and street food that is popular in Vietnam. There’s no word to praise the quality and authenticity of the food here. My friend had Bun Bo Hue and the bowl was full of toppings, the broth was flavorful and aromatic. They also have a whole section dedicated for vegetarian too!!! Vegetarian spring rolls are big stuffed with many tofu and fresh vegetable. The sauce that comes with the rolls is on point. Sandwich is perfectly made with tofu and plant-based protein, creamed with mayonnaise and house sauce. The portion is reasonably big. And the best part is the Vietnamese coffee capped with matcha cream. Both the coffee and the matcha are rich in taste and texture is thick. Staffs are super friendly and quick to accommodate. They are very attentive, caring and welcoming. Just love everything about this restaurant. Definitely will come back and bring more people here. Thank you for the good food...
Read moreSo all in all this was great. I ordered the pork spring rolls and the grilled pork sandwich. I loved the pate in the sandwich... which is normally not my fav part of a bahn mi- but this was really flavorful and good. The sandwich could have used more veggies... BUT the pate was really surprisingly good! The spring roll wrappers were kind of hard to bite thru, BUT the fresh mint in them made them balanced and nice. (the spring rolls also might be improved with veggies... imho; but they were good. maybe I need to just ask for extra veggies) Oh and the dipping sauce was great!!
The service was excellent and the restaurant is clean and staff friendly. Very glad to see this place open, location is great! Definitely will come back and try more things. Glad Viet Corner is open!
Edit: 2nd time getting food here for pickup. Had the same sandwich, it had more veggies on it and was excellent!!! Also tried their traditional Vietnamese coffee which was as perfect as...
