Dockside | Dining & Drinks — Restaurant in Keeler Township

I went to this place a couple of weeks ago with a friend who lives locally. I was very excited to see how this place was and eager to spend time and make memories as I heard this was a good place. However, I was wrong. Upon coming in I was carded which was not out of the norm. However the way I was approached was absolutely uncalled for and disrespectful. I live out of state and gave my ID to scan. I was asked my address by "security" which was a very ignorant woman with red hair. I gave my address and she said verbatim "I asked your street address not the entire address, next time just say what I asked for otherwise it seems like it was memorized". She was asking me a question for memory but I did not argue with ignorance. It was clear she was isolating me because she has some biased. She did not card my friend but proceeded to question me based on no grounds. I am absolutely appalled by the way I was treated especially, because she scanned my ID. if your scanner doesn't work then you should invest in a better one and this facility should invest in properly training their staff. She did not ask my friend to recite her ID and we are the same age, the only difference is she was white and I was not. If you care to go into dockside dan's to be degraded and be discriminated against, I highly recommend that this is the place for you. Upon exiting the bar/grill, I see nothing but Illinois license plates which left me speechless. I will not be dining here ever again and will hope this post reaches others and the staff to be more compassionate and conscious. This place is all about the patio. It is a small patio with only a handful of tables but wow, what a view, especially at sunset. Just down the street from "The Strand", You have a beautiful view of the lake while enjoying your meal and/or cocktail. Inside has been recently redecorated and looks nice compared to what it looked like before. Service here is terrific with reasonable prices for both food and drink. The menu is large enough that everyone should be able to find something that sounds good. The food is good and sufficient enough to fill most appetites. Their menu includes several good appetizers, good salads, sandwiches, and pizza. Plus they have music two times per week. Check their web page. The servers were friendly, and very accommodating. Even the other clientele were very kind and inviting. We sat outside, it was definitely off season still so there's a bit of cleaning up to do but still nice right on the lake. I had the Italian beef, very tasty. My wife had the dockside burger which she enjoyed as well. For us, the wings were surprisingly fantastic and with majority house made sauces, I will definitely be having this again! The only downside was they were out of cauliflower to sub on the tacos for my vegetarian mom, but they were quick to offer sweet potato fries which she said were a good substitute.
