The Commons — Restaurant in Kennesaw

I used to like coming here as a student, so I decided I would pay the entry fee to spend the day here. Bad decision. I came at lunch and even though they're supposed to close at seven, almost all of the different areas had closed already. Literally all that was left was the burger stand. So I paid 27 dollars to get me and my boyfriend in (they jacked up the price without telling us, too!) and all that was available was burgers. No one told us this and I was pissed, but we were already here and we figured we might as well just eat there. We sat up top because there were a lot of people at the bottom. Right around one o'clock someone comes up and says they're closing the upper area. Again, they close at seven so why would you close the upper area six house beforehand? But we go downstairs with our burgers and try to find a table with an outlet so I could pull out my laptop and work. Tried a few different outlets and none of them worked. Eventually gave up and just said my laptop will have to die. Go for another burger and it is completely burnt. So now I find out the majority of food is gone and the one food they do have they messed up. At this point I'm pissed that I was completely overcharged for this experience and my boyfriend and i go up to the front to tell them if there's not going to be anything open, they should have a sign outside saying so. We also asked if we could potentially get some sort of rebate for the overcharge. We were basically told there was nothing they could do (they can't put up a sign saying the only thing available is burgers) and they would not refund any money. So it's basically a glorified McDonald's anytime past 12, which completely ruins the purpose. Oh and another thing. Apparently you aren't allowed to sit at the Commons anymore. When we talked to the employees they also told us you can't stay there more than two hours anymore. How that works for students trying to study and eat is beyond me, but whatever. It is clear the Commons isn't what it used to be and I will not be returning. I encourage everyone else to never go or forgo the food plan. It's just not worth the money. First off I want to say the employees are always awesome. Michael is awesome. I don’t know their names but the ladies who work at the salad side and the coffee side are amazing! They work hard and are the backbone of this place. I’m disappointed in the higher up part of the commons. I paid a lot of money for my meal plan and yet the commons has taken so many food options away and it is too crowded. The commons has taken away the cantaloupe, honeydew melon, Kalamata olives, plain hummus, nuts, cranberries, beets, plain herb chicken, and more. It’s so disappointing because I cannot eat a lot of foods. I have to eat really healthy due to my health issues. They’ve always had great food that I can eat but this year they’ve taken so much away. I really wish our money that we’ve spent would go towards the regular foods that have always been there and that they would work on expanding. The workers are always nice and hard working. This place has just gotten bad since the start of the school year. The menus aren’t accurate at all and the options are extremely limited. They take forever to make fresh food and sometimes they don’t even do that. They just let it sit for hours getting cold and dry. Not to mention the food ain’t seasoned at all. And the weekends , don’t get me started on those days . They don’t even bother cooking food. It’s only like 2 or 3 things to eat Ong. They seriously need to improve . But they don’t even seem to care about us . I’ve also found bugs and hair in food. This place should honestly get reported to the health department sadly . They need to step their game up and actually have what’s stated on the menu and have hot and fresh food . I WANT this place to be good . But they just need a complete overhaul on their approach .
