You will not learn this place is locked to Summit residents only until you arrive. This place is always crowded - wait until a resident comes along and enter with them or ask them to key you in because your talon card doesn’t work. If you’re a student but don’t specifically live at the Summit, your talon card will not work. There is only ONE burger you are allowed to order with a meal plan. Messed up, partly because if you DO live there, you’re required to buy a meal plan. If you want any add-ons to the one dinner item you CAN buy, you have to convert your real money to monopoly money “dining dollars”, or you have to pay for the whole thing separately.
Typical fast food places have you order at the register OR the tablet kiosk. They also have a TV to see how many people ordered online and came in for pickup. Here you can ONLY order at the kiosk, and there’s no printed receipt with your order number. There’s also no tv, so no way to know how many people ordered before you or understand your place in line. The kiosk asks for your name, despite orders only being referred to by number. The pickup line is combined with the regular line, so it's chaos.
I forgot my order number, so my food sat there. The manager was angry and rude when I was trying to figure all this out, and when I got my food - I wasn’t rude, wasn’t yelling - she kept repeating that “I should have paid attention, they called my number multiple times”. She didn’t seem very smart or attentive to detail. Slammed my drink on the counter. Extremely rude. Student staff was all nice. What is going on? It took two hours to get “fast food”.
The burger itself was pretty standard smashburger restaurant stuff, though no lettuce or tomato. Don’t get a double - the patties here are large and thick. Cheaper here than a regular place. Fries were eh quality.
The fact that this place is advertised as “open later and can be paid with dining dollars” is disingenuous. Genuine hassle to even get, let alone pay for. Go at...
Read moreHello, This is Logan Fugate, and I've read over the previous complaints about the High Point Cafe. I am currently working at High Point Cafe and find some of these remarks out of date. We try our best to perform at a level that all customers can enjoy, and I know certain items are becoming more limited due to the changes in what a student with a meal plan can get. I make the wraps most of the time, and again, I'm sorry if food comes out subpar at times. However, it shouldn't occur with each visit.
High Point has improved, and I highly recommend giving it a second chance, even with the recent changes. I want to stress this, but if a customer believes that our portion sizes are too small, then I wish to let you know that certain items get a designated amount of ingredients, so if you take stuff off like fries in the all-in-one wrap, for example, then you will see a significant decrease in size. This isn't a scam, and be mindful of how much you take. I recommend our French toast and our fruit cups to any customer.
If something is wrong with your order, that is in our immediate control. (I'm being very clear here.) We do tend to run out of certain food ingredients, and we cannot control that factor immediately. If that isn't the case then please let someone know. I want to give the customer what they paid for, so please be patient with the staff as I or the other staff remake the order.
Overall, I really do enjoy the food at High Point Cafe, and 9 times out of 10, we do tend to get things right. Throughout all the responses that I have read, I'm glad that everyone is enjoying our friendly staff. Overall, I think students will enjoy the 2024 High Point Cafe, so please...
Read moreI've gotten tired of it now as it seems to keep happening. I'm unsure of how they make their grits but sometimes they randomly serve it unseasoned. It's not like they have salt shakers or provide butter so you're left with inedible grits half of the time.
Breakfast is advertised as all day but they never seem prepared to serve it in the afternoon. I don't waste time ordering breakfast when it's busy, but if there are only 3 orders ahead of me then I feel like it shouldn't come out slapped together and, again, unseasoned.
Today they forgot one of my orders on top of 4 servings of grits that I can't eat. There's no number to call and I live off campus without transportation so I didn't exactly have a means to go back and I've never had an item, let alone an entire order, missing before.
Student staff are very kind. I feel bad because of how friendly they are. Whenever they have everything in stock, it's a good value for a meal swipe. Food always tastes just fine, much better than a standard fast food burger place. If you can tolerate McDonald's or, God forbid, Burger King then you will enjoy this place very much.
They play music from various...
