Adobo Boy has become my go-to spot for Filipino food here in Michigan, and Iām so grateful for it! Having lived here for the past two years, I was constantly searching for a place that reminded me of my parentsā cooking back in Chicago. For the longest time, the closest options were in Detroit, which made it difficult to satisfy those cravings for the food I grew up with. But once I discovered Adobo Boy at Noodle Fest and through GRAPF, I knew I had finally found "the" spot.
Jackie and Ace, who own and run Adobo Boy, are not only fantastic hosts but also friends of mine. Jackieās cooking is beyond incredible, and every dish feels like a warm, comforting taste of home and very authentic. Theyāre always so welcoming, and I know Iām in for a great meal whenever I visit.
Some of my personal favorites are the Kare Kare, Tilapia, Halo Halo, and, of course, their signature Redd's Pork Adobo. Each dish is a celebration of Filipino flavors, and the care that Jackie puts into her food really shines through.
If youāre looking for a unique experience, they also offer a Kamayan Tasting Experience, which I had the pleasure of enjoying with my family and friends. Itās a feast thatās not to be missed, especially if youāve never tried Kamayan-style dining before!
Adobo Boy is doing something special by bringing Filipino food to the mainstream, and if youāre in West Michigan or Michigan in General, this is a must-visit spot. Whether youāre craving a taste of home or looking to explore Filipino cuisine, Jackie and Ace have created something truly special here. As their slogan holds true, "It's more fun...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been waiting for a Filipino restaurant in my area for two and a half years now since Iāve moved here so Iāve been eyeing this place since they had their first soft opening in December but I had been busy traveling. I FINALLY got to drop by tonight and I am not disappointed. Iām Filipino, and have lots of experience with Filipino cuisine because my parentsā cooking and I had lived in the Philippines for 6 years. Happy to say that the food is just as delicious and very comforting as it reminds me of home. The portion size is great, along with the way they packaged my items (ordered to go because I needed to pack š ).
Literally everyone in the establishment greeted me when I entered the room and theyāre all so nice and welcoming just like Family.
I ordered a pinakbet bowl (very tasty yet perfect amount of fish paste as this dish can sometimes have an overwhelming scent but this one did not!) and the adobo bowl (EVERYONE must try the adobo bowl especially if youāve never had Filipino food). Both orders hit the spot. The buko juice is refreshing and not to sweet like ones you typically buy off the shelf and comes with a good amount! I paid about $31 for all of this!
I wish I was in town tomorrow to try their Sinigang and Halohalo on top of their karaoke night! But Iāll be back soon.
Iām very excited to see the future for Adobo Boy and their location collaboration with the others Asian...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time visiting adobo boy, I was made aware of this restaurant due to it being featured on the local news (Wood TV 8) I really enjoyed everything about this restaurant, the food, the culture and the service was completely consistent with what you would expect of someone from the Philippines.
The food was excellent, I was first served a bowl of soup (not sure of the name now) but it was a bowl of filipino sour soup, nothing like anything I've ever tried but delicious š. I also got a traditional filipino type of noodles/vegetables dish with chicken, also very delicious!!
The culture and the service is very much traditional filipino, very warm, very personal and very inviting, it felt just like I was in a restaurant in the Philippines (I visited there in April 2024) The gentleman and his wife were just so lovely, so friend and nice, keep doing what you do!!!!
I highly recommend adobo boy to anyone who loves filipino food or to those who wish to try something different, you won't be disappointed!!!
FYI they are located behind honey baked ham on 28th st slightly to the right if you are facing honey baked ham. (I had a little bit of a difficult time finding them)
