The restaraunt, in a word, was fantastic. At a glance, the interior, while a tad cramped, is charmingly decorated and pleasing to the eye.
If you're dining in, you have to order your food before you sit down, which may be somewhat of a hassle for new customers, as you have you take the time to read the menu and decide what to get. However, ordering your food and paying before sitting down cuts out having to wait on a server to get around to you to take your order and bring you your drinks, and thus lessens the time spent waiting on your food.
Firstly, just as everybody else points out, the portion sizes are monstrously generous. Dollar for dollar, you get your money's worth. For a family of four to sit down and eat two appetizers (which are also largely portioned), an entree` each (which comes with a preceding salad and accompanying bread) on a plate bigger than your face, with drinks (Free refills!) for all, cost only $61. The food comes out steaming on hot plates so you're assured that it won't get cold any time soon. It's fresh, delicious, and of course whatever you don't eat, you can take home.
I've heard that there can be a long wait time, but I was lucky enough to take my family during a Sunday in the late afternoon, so we got a table the moment we arrived. However, due to the limited space in the store, I'm not at all surprised that there are complaints about the wait. If you want a higher chance at snagging a table upon arrival, go during one of the typically less-busy days.
As for the staff, they were friendly, helpful, and generally all in good spirits. Even though my family had to sit for about 5-10 minutes staring at the menu, they never tried to rush us or get impatient.
Based on just my one visit, Castiglia's is a charming and worthwhile restaraunt that I would reccomend to anyone looking to get the most out of their money. Just don't show up with a huge party, probably no more than five people, because as I said before, space is somewhat...
Read morePassing through the small town of Keyser on a motorcycle trip, I stopped into the busy Italian restaurant. The place forces you to order and pay for your food before finding a table. As soon as I sit down, I notice with awe the unbelievable portion sizes on other diner's plates. There is enough food for lunch, dinner, and lunch the next day. On the recommendation of the hostess, we order the "best" meals of the lasagna and the cheese steak sub. The lasagna was delivered 20 minutes before my cheese steak sub. Taking a bite of my friend's lasagna, I notice how greasy the lasagna seems to be. Unfortunately, the kitchen uses ground beef and NOT Italian sausage to make their lasagna giving the dish a terribly dull taste. Cheese seems to be the only flavor and it is obviously processed mozzarella. My cheese steak was not any better. It was devoid of spice or flavor and after 3 bites, I could take no more. Still famished, I leave wishing I had eaten at the Dairy Queen next door instead. This is not "Authentic Italian flavor" in any sense and will cause...
Read moreGreat Food, Excellent Value, a well loved local restaurant, been open 20+ years. The atmosphere is unique, custom plastered/brick walls like in Italy, beautiful stone and woodwork, old style rustic feel. The owners are Italian, and they are terrific people. This is in my top 5 all time places to eat in the US. You will get a large amout of delicious freshly made food and baked bread at a Great price. You can get a box to take home if you have leftovers. They are bringing back their tasty pizza in January hopefully. You order at the counter, pay, get your drinks and then sit at a table. They bring your food to you with a smile. There are several charming beautiful ladies that work there which is a bonus as well. The men there are striking as well according to my wife. This is worth the one hour drive we make to eat there. They make every meal to order, you will usually wait for a table unless you are eating off hours. They are...
