Tomasso at Turtle Point — Restaurant in Kiawah Island

This pizza is terrible. We have dined here several times in person and the quality and service was always subpar. However, we wanted pizza for carry out and the local pizza place was busy. After hesitantly ordering a margarita pizza and a pepp and sausage pizza for $30 each, we were quoted an hour and a half wait time. I showed up before that time, and our pizzas were sitting on a table near the hostess stand. Not anywhere being kept warm, but just on a table. When we got home, I found out that a pizza can be undercooked and burnt at the same time. The margarita pizza was almost inedible and because it had been sitting out cold for so long, the cheese was no longer sticking to the pizza. It was completely separate from the pizza. Considering the cost of the medium size pizza, tax, and an automatic 15% gratuity, even though my pizza was obviously sitting in the cold for at least 30 minutes, we will never come back to this restaurant. Food was great. Service was questionable. We called ahead, as we tried to eat there two days prior but they were closed.

Upon our arrival, they tried to talk us into sitting outside. Normally, wouldn't mind, but temps were in low 60s and didn't want our food to get cold.

They had us wait to sit in dining room. While waiting for a table two people sat at the bar. We mentioned we would sit at the bar, but then they had a table ready. We entered the dining room and there were only three other people sitting at one other table.

They said it was a staffing issue, so they wanted everyone to sit outside. Odd thing is, the server who was working the outside tables had to walk right by us to wait in them.

We were in Kiawah for 8 days and We made a reservation for our last night, Friday Sept 18th at 7:00 pm. Due to COVID they had many tables taken out and we were able to have a table for 2 with a good distance from others. The first thing that was a disappointment was there was a table of about 16 people. It was so incredibly loud and distracting. I think they should have a private room for such a big party. It was clear from the outset that they were understaffed. Our server was fine enough, but we didn’t get told the specials, we had to ask. We couldn’t hear her because of the large party.
