Wish I could go lower!! Today is 10/7/18. My family and myself just arrived in town for a week. We searched online for places close by with very good reviews. We decieded on Two Roads. When we arrived just a little after 7 pm we were greeted with a smile by a young lady. This was the best we received from our visit. We were walked through the empty place and sat in the corner which is fine since we have 3 kids and an infant and sometimes the baby cries. We were then greated about 5 minutes later by our waitress. We placed our drink orders and looked at the menu. When she returned about 5 minutes later we placed all the orders and some fries for the kids to start with as we had been in car for 6 hours. They arrived in about 10 minutes and were good. Then the wait started...she came by once to refill our drinks and then was gone. After about 30 minutes she came back and picked up the plates and said our food would be right out. Well she was gone again. I saw her seating others but never came to tell us what was going on with our order. Our kids all ordered buttered noodles, I got a veggie burger, and my wife got Tuna entree rare. My wife's side salad never even came out. After she didn't come back to check or tell us about the order and the kids were starving and getting restless we decided to leave. We looked for her to pay our bill for the fries but she never came around. I threw a $5 on table and left as we all had H2O to drink. I mean come on how can it be so bad????? Also one more thing...please do some research on what is appropriate to serve with the Vegan Burgers. 1) You can't use a brioche bun because by definition it contains egg and butter 2) You have tzatziki sauce as a topping on one of the burgers which is either a yogurt or sour cream...

My wife picked Two Roads Tavern randomly from a google listing of restaurants near us. We had never been there before. But, figured we'd give it a try.

The food was great, the server was polite and prompt to take our order. Our drinks were kept full and we didn't wait long for our food.

I ordered the Boss Hog burger with fries and a side of fried oysters. My wife got the hangover burger and fries. We also got an appetizer of fried pickles.

The fried pickles were the best we've ever had. We really enjoyed them. Definitely get some when you go.

Our burgers were perfect. My wife is a bit picky when it comes to food, and she was happy.

Now, I read the description of my burger before I ordered it. It said double patty. I assumed it'd be 2 wimpy thin patties. Boy, was I wrong. This burger was huge! This is the first burger I ever had to eat with a fork and knife. But, there was joy in every bite. I fully recommend it. But, make sure you're hungry.

So, would we go again? Definitely.

Thanks to the staff for a great meal, and fun atmosphere.

EDIT: I see that most of the negative reviews are from unhappy vegans. So, this is for them. You're never happy anyway. Just stay home and make your own food.

If you want vegan food, find a vegan restaurant. Stop expecting every restaurant to cater to you.

Simply put, A restaurant is going to cater to their local clientele, and sell what is popular in the area that they serve. Be glad they have "niche" items...

Overpriced for portion size and taste.. is the quick and easy review.. Meal started off ok with the Cajun cheese curds.. although basically just cheese curds as no real Cajun taste was noticeable.. they were good though.. It went downhill from there...

The menu focuses on burgers so burgers are what we got.. Hangover burger and Mac and Jap burger. Average is the best I can describe the taste.. For a place that focuses on burgers I was 0 percent impressed by the size and the taste especially in relation to the price.. the hangover burger says hash browns.. as a ingredient/topping if that "hash brown" was their idea of a has brown that is sad.. it looked like some processed over fried McDonald's hash brown smashed in the bottom bin.. the fried egg was ok.. bacon was skimpy to.. worse than many fast food versions. The Mac n Jap burger was similar Mac n cheese was bland and it was over powered by a lot of Jalapenos.. must be for filler to take up space..

Fries... Some of the worst I have ever had at a "Tavern" style restaurant. They literally tasted like sams club frozen shoestring fires over fried and unfortunately zero salt added to boot..

Service was fine atmosphere was fine.. I have no history of the place and how long it's been here.. seems like maybe they should have focused on amazing food first then match the tavern feel with really good tavern style food.. oh well on our next vacation to the OBX we will make a note not to try this...

As a solo traveler, my review is mostly about the food. If you like burgers, sea food, and a mesh of bar and family style restaurants, this will do. No outside dining, though they have a deck around the outside if you want to sit out there. There can be wait times during busy hours. I got the Bison buffalo blue cheese burger and the pickle brine chicken bites starter. The food came hot and fast enough but the flavor was sub par to me. I tasted nothing pickle-y or special about the chicken. Just call them bland chicken poppers, the sauce had all the flavor. The bison patty was nice and thick and juicy. I didn't specify a cooked level it came out med rare to medium. if you don't like pink meat, ask them to cook it more. Unfortunately the blue cheese overpowered this dish. It didn't even have a hint of the kick I'm used to detecting with buffalo sauce. I couldn't distinguish any other flavors over the blue cheese. I highly recommend if you want to try this or any other Burger to use to build your own option and get a different cheese. I wish I had gotten it with goat cheese it probably would have been amazing. I sat at the bar because there was a 30-minute wait and I was eating by myself. Both of the bartenders were fast and courteous. If I were rating service alone, I'd give 5 stars.

My first time at Two Roads Tavern was a pleasant experience. I started with the “Sounds Good Burger,” which was tasty but could have benefited from more sauce. I also tried the Mahi Mahi for the first time, and it was delicious, accompanied by a tasty sauce. To begin, we had the Cajun Cheese curds. As a Wisconsinite, I must admit they were good, but they were a bit soggy. Perhaps they could have been fried a bit longer or dried off before serving. However, they were paired with a Jamaican Jerk Aioli, which was tasty. Overall, the burgers were good, nothing extraordinary, and the Mahi Mahi was very good, definitely worth trying. The fries had the same problem as the cheese curds—the taste was good, but they were a little too soggy.
