We walked into McGrath's at 9:30 p.m. on a Sunday night and there was only one other couple in the place. The only thing they had available to eat at that time on a Sunday night was the Guinness Stew and desserts. So that's what we had, the stew was very hardy and good, and the dessert; the soda bread bread pudding with dark chocolate, white chocolate, raisins, and a whiskey sauce was absolutely delicious! Owen was a great host as he came over and made conversation with us numerous times while waited for our food and while we ate our food. He was very friendly and gave us lots of information about the Inn and history about the area.

Great hidden gem bar and restaurant. Features irish drink selections and Guinness always ready to go.. or as they say, "vitamin G". Our NJ ski club, High Life, has a lodge 10 mins away and we always make a point to hit McGrath's. With live irish music on Friday and Saturday nights, rustic vibes and the restaurant is actually built around the Appalachian Trail - there are huge rocks within the structure.. so cool. They are known for their fantastic irish stew...but have great burgers, Shepard's pie, sandwiches, and even a salmon dish. A must stop for a pint, a bowl, a jig, and some great conversations.

Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing people. Live music Fridays and Saturdays. Thank you Murray and Patty, you've built something amazing I hope it's around for a long time. They have a dining room and pub with great food choices in both. Sit and have a Guinness and enjoy yourself. If you have the time take the trail behind the pub to the lookout point, it's breathtaking.

Loved this place for years when visiting VT. Recent visit was still nostagically fun and I LOVE the physical atmosphere/interior that is so unique with an old world feel. Unfortunately, the night we were there, the performer told one cringeworthy off-color joke after another. If it was just a few scattered throughout his performance, it would have been okay, but after every song there was a dirty joke. I can enjoy a few risqué jokes as much as the next person, but this was a bit much, and some in our group were definitely uncomfortable. I really wish there had just been a good Irish band, but this guy seems to be a regular there. But if you enjoy that sort of thing, then obviously it would not be a problem. The only other complaint was that, while the food was very good, some mix up in the kitchen resulted in two of our party's meals being served while the others had to wait nearly another 20 minutes. No real explanation or even ongoing communication about the delay. Even the apology was a casual "sorry about the confusion" that seemed almost an afterthought.

It was very disappointing after looking forward so much to a return visit after many years. I still think it is probably usually a great place, with good food and a normally great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the night we were there was not one of...

I was very excited to check this place out and unfortunately was very disappointed.

The smell that hits you when you walk in is horrible. It smelled like they were trying to cover something up with horrific cologne.

We sat down and ordered two drinks. I ordered a vodka soda and my fiancé ordered a Guinness. When the drinks arrived I noticed a black dot inside one of the ice cubes. At a closer glance I knew it was for sure a mouse dropping. I immediately brought the drink to the bar where the server aggressively grabbed the drink, no apology, nothing, slammed the liquid into the sink and angrily made me another drink as if I was complete inconvenience.

My fiancé suffered through his Guinness which also did not taste right.

We made the obvious decision to settle up our check and not attempt to order any food after seeing the mouse poop.

Really unfortunate because the esthetic of the space is...

We loved this place. Had a very cool vibe. Bartender greeted us and provided menus immediately and took our drink orders. Then the server also brought us menus and asked if she could get us started with a drink. Drinks came out within minutes. My husband ordered the corn beef and cabbage which was served with carrots and potatoes. He normally doesn't eat cooked carrots but he raves over these. The corned beef was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. I ordered the chicken pot pie. It was loaded with chicken and veggies and the puff pastry crust was delicate, flavorful, and delicious. They have live Irish music on the weekends and what a treat that was after no live music for 17 months. Highly recommend this place for delicious, comfort food. Our server was a champ. She waited on every customer and never stopped running but was still friendly and attentive...
