Tasteless Ice Cream. High reviews, 🤷🏻♀️but as soon as I tasted the strawberry swirl, I asked my husband to try my ice cream. I tasted no flavor. He tasted no flavor from my strawberry/sweet cream scoop. I tasted his mint chocolate chip and it wasn’t even really minty. Once again flavorless.
Double scoop, $7. No straight vanilla, no straight chocolate. If you like basic flavors they don’t have any. I wasn’t originally impressed by the selection of flavors and I kind of wanted to leave the shop. But my husband said oh look they have strawberry. So the strawberry swirl or whatever they call it, as the girl mentioned vanilla with strawberry purée. I did not taste the strawberry purée, I did not taste strawberries, I did not taste vanilla. So I told her it doesn’t taste like anything. Is there vanilla in this because I saw no vanilla bean in it. She said no, but she said that it was vanilla. Don’t call it vanilla if there’s no vanilla bean in it please. She continued on with telling me there’s no vanilla syrup in it. I wouldn’t make vanilla ice cream with vanilla syrup. I told her I would make it with vanilla bean and I said you know vanilla bean powder. She said no, and she shook her head like that was weird or didn’t know what I was talking about. and I said that’s the real deal. It’s from the vanilla bean. These kids today! They know nothing about the origins of true food. Then she continued to say, but it’s vanilla sweet cream. I was afraid to ask where she’s getting the vanilla sweet cream. Is it actual vanilla or is it an artificial flavoring or what is the sweet cream. Is that why the ice cream is outrageously expensive cause they actually use cream or they using a product that is called vanilla sweet cream, which has artificial flavors and preservatives. It must say “vanilla extract” to be from the vanilla bean. And by the way for those of you who don’t know about vanilla when it says natural vanilla, please look up where true “natural vanilla” comes from. Hint: beaver. I might be a crazy old lady, but I...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem in the Kimberling City area! One of the top three ice cream places we have visitied. Our family was immediately greeted by the owners (I believe) and were told about the 50 flavors that rotate and how they were made. They were also very friendly to our two littles.
My wife ordered the sundae (see picture). The base is a bubble waffle (which is made when you order), a scoop of your choice of ice cream, topped with carmel and hot fudge, whipped cream, and powered sugar. You can get your bubble waffle with or without chocolate chips. In the car on the way home, my wife said, "That was the best sundae I have ever had!"
The littles loved the Orange Blissicle and I enjoyed the Mississippi Mud.
If you don't like ice cream, you can do some shopping at their little store with local shirts, knick knacks, candles, soap, and picture frames. You can also play an enlarged version of Connect 4, and a choice of multiple board games.
This place is worthy of being at the Branson Landing, but so glad it is in Kimberling City!
Overall, it was an amazing experience and would recommend this to ANYONE, even if you are full and passing through the area! We will definitely be making return visits to...
Read moreIn our ongoing quest for the best ice cream shop in the Branson area, we visited The Funky Twig last night. Wow! Specializing in artisan ice cream flavors, made in small batches, The Funky Twig has some of the best, most unique ice cream in the area. If you are like me, and can never pick which flavor you want, then you can't go wrong with the "Funky Flight" (pictured) - a sampling of six flavors you choose. Of course I had to try it, and you can see the beautiful ice cream in my photo 🙂 I enjoyed: Malted Milk Ball (not the right name), Key Lime Pie, S'mores, double vanilla, Roasted Corn, and Maple Bourbon Bacon. I loved them all, but I especially liked the toasted buttery sweetness of the roasted corn, and the salty-sweet Maple Bourbon Bacon. Even if your tastes aren't as exotic, you are sure to find plenty of other flavors to enjoy. My daughter particularly loved the Blueberry Sorbet. With so many great ice cream places around, it's hard to choose a favorite, but I think The Funky Twig deserves a place at the top of...
