Pizza Oven — Restaurant in Kingsford

This was the first time my husband and I ate at the Pizza Oven. The waitress was very friendly. Their pizza was phenomenal! The pizza was one of the best we’ve ever had. They had porketta on their menu. We had never heard of porketta before. Porketta is pork roast that is seasoned with Italian style seasoning and slow cooked in the oven. The waitress said that the porketta normally comes on a sandwich, but they can make a porketta pizza. She explained that when they make porketta pizzas they generally use butter. We ordered a 16 inch double crust bacon, cheese, ham, porketta, and sausage pizza with pizza sauce. The pizza takes a while to cook because they use a 16” crust in the bottom then add the ingredients and the they put a 14” crust on top and add ingredients to that. When we received the pizza it really looked appetizing. When we started taking pieces from the pizza the butter and juices started to come out. The butter really brought out the flavor. The porketta gave the pizza a somewhat smoky flavor. My husband and I can easily eat a 16” pizza together, but not this pizza. This pizza was very filling. We could have probably ordered a 12” and walked out full and satisfied. We highly recommend the double crust pizza and don’t forget...

I always enjoy a pizza oven pizza yesterday I ordered a sausage and ham with onions green peppers mushrooms and black olive pizza that was outstanding and mated my expectations as always. When I called and order my pizza they gave me an estimated time that it would be ready I arrived on time the girls were swamped with many pizza orders I waited patiently in the lobby and when my pizza was ready they gave me coupons towards a free pizza. What better customer service can be given than that? Pizza Oven you guys rock....

I have enjoyed this pizza place since the early 70’s when they were on the North Side just down from Schinderles Grocery and across from Green-leaf Bar. We drive over a thousand miles to eat the best pizza possible and it is our first stop upon arriving to the twin city area.
