Two of us ordered a 16-inch pizza with three items: Italian sausage, onions, and fresh mushrooms. For a restaurant famous for its signature menu item--pizza--the product proved to be underwhelming. Nothing special about the hand-tossed crust. It lacked any discernable flavor. Ditto for the Italian sausage. My taste buds went on a search-and-rescue mission, hoping to find a hint of fennel. No kidding, it was the last bite of sausage on the entire pizza before I detected any hint of fennel flavor. And the sauce? What sauce? Zero taste to the sauce. Should have known, due to an absence of redness. In terms of sauce, the best moment came after bringing five pieces home, and then dipping them into some warmed-up Ragu.
To the restaurant's credit, the mozzarella and fresh mushrooms were above average, and my cup of water was clear.
Value for the dollar? Every Domino's pizza I've had beats Beagio's, hands down, at slightly over half the price. The chap sitting next to me had shrimp alfredo on a smallish plate. I asked him if he liked it. His comment was that the house had gone skimpy on the shrimp, basically echoing my assessment of poor value for the dollar.
Overall, a C-/D+ experience. In all fairness, my wife says I'm being a bit brutal. She's more in the three-and-a-half-star zone. But this is the same wife who pines for boiled cabbage, so take...
Read moreWent here with a group recently to celebrate a birthday. Kingston was a bit of a drive for me, but it was really a lovely town, and Beagio's was the kind of place I love. Beagio's felt festive but you don't have to dress fancy to go here.
We shared some shrimp jambalaya pasta (a little spicy for my friend, but very good and the spice was great for me). The table shared a couple of flatbreads, which were very tasty. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and we shared some cheesecake for dessert--I can highly recommend the turtle cheesecake! Had to check out the patio outdoors because the view was so nice from our booth. Oh, and the booths! They're quite large, we easily fit 6 people. I would have liked a footrest but still had a great time. The staff was great too.
I spoke with my brother after going there and he couldn't believe I didn't order pizza, since he's such a fan -- he says it's perfect with the crust that bubbles up and gets crispy in their oven. I vaguely remember the Beagio's name for some reason (there was a delicious pizza place in Vassar long ago, and it seems like that's where I know the Beagio's name, but can't confirm I'm remember correctly...). I guess I'll just have to make the drive again and order pizza next time to see for myself if it's the pizza I remember. I recommend...
Read moreHate to be that guy. My girl and I ordered take out ahead of time for us, my mother and grandmother. We were comin from Millington at the time when we called in our order to this location, then to Silverwood to eat the food with my mom and grandma. When we arrived to pick up the food; it wasn't ready quite yet, not a big deal at all. After about 10 minutes this lady brings us "all of our food". Oh how I wish we would have checked to be sure. We drive 20 minutes to have this dinner with my mom and grandmother to find out they never gave us a wet burrito that my mom had wanted and some mac & cheese. I didn't want to have to make that additional round trip from Silverwood to Kingston and back to Silverwood smh, so we called and asked for a refund for that food we never got and the lady says she could only do a store credit? Like what? Just a bizarre experience from a place like this. We drive all the way back to get the food and still had to wait a few minutes to get it then. So by time we ate the food, none of it was warm and even more irritating considering I left a over a 13 dollar tip making the bill come out to an exact $99. Like it was a ordered over the phone, how much easier could it have been? Y'all need...
