Food was mediocre service was terrible. We have been hearing about this place for years and finally decided to give it a try. I would like to preface this review by saying that I am in the process of recovering from multiple stomach ulcers so I do have a bunch of dietary restrictions. However, I'm in the stretch where I have been able to incorporate different foods again. However, I cannot eat spicy foods. So with that disclaimer this was our experience. When we got there it was still fairly early maybe between 5 and 5:30. We did get a away immediately and our waiter came quickly and took our drink orders. We ordered. Of course I had some changes because of the previously mentioned ulcers. I know it can be annoying to the wait staff, but it keeps me out of the hospital. So anyway, the food arrived fairly quickly and we the waiter didn't come back to our table until it was time for,the check. The only time he asked how it was, was when he brought the food before I could even take the first bite. I take two maybe three bites and my mouth starts tingling and now I have realized they spiced the rice in my burrito with chili powder. And I can't eat it. I really wish the menu had been more specific about that. So I stop eating and it's another 20 minutes before the waiter comes back. Never once asked either of us again how the food was even though he can see I didn't eat. I had absolutely no problem paying for what I ordered and couldn't eat, it's fine. But I really would have liked the opportunity to have tried to order something else I could have eaten. Now you see at this point, because I have gotten very hungry and have really nothing on my stomach to speak of, the acid starts churning and I start getting sick. So thanks for that. The waiter comes back with the check asks if I want a box. I looked at my husband and said, I can't eat it so it's up to you. The waiter NEVER questioned that!!!!! Husband said food was mediocre at best and a Chipotle would easily put them out of business. Don't waste your time or money. It does not live up to the hype. If someone gave me the option of Bad Bean or Taco Bell, I would take Taco Bell hands...
Read moreUpdate : 19OCT2024, Im dissappointed that the owner reviewed this, and then attempted to twist the narrative because they have "video" and can somehow deduce that my statements are false, that my girlfriend was the only one to tip the server, and that I called the burrito trash multiple times. Post the video that has me saying that, if you cant then its second source information, and not trustworthy...which would make you a liar. Trash is a word your manager invented, I said it was cold multiple times, not trash. She may have heard "trash", but trash doesnt = cold, they are inherently different, one is noun and one is an adjevtive, and adjective used to accurately describe my burrito. Calling something trash isnt cursing, nothing about the word "trash" is profane or unduly accepted by society, so its not a curse word, not sure whats hard about that to understand.... We also didnt finish eating the burrito, we intended to but then left when your manager shifted her attitude to hostile, yet another lie of yours, post the video ...itll still show food on the plate. The vibe of this place tracks with the review of the food I left in person. The owner and the manager are on the same page here, if you have a bad review they will just lie and defend their lies, rather than just accept the criticism. No one asked them to remove it from the check, the manager did that of her own volition and then is blaming the customer that we were unhappy and didnt accept their attempts to fix the meal. How about you use this oppurtunity to learn how to respect a customer that responds in the negative, rather than get bent out of shape and then try to defame them in a review response. We promptly went down the street to Shipwrecks, they didnt scold us for honest answers nor run us out of the restaraunt with hostile energy. The food we had their was "hot", not "cold", or in the words of your...
Read moreMy family loved this place. We just arrived in Kitty Hawk and no one wanted to cook so I searched local restaurants and found this place. Already had 4.6 rating so I knew they were good. Those ratings didn't disappoint. Called in and the hostess was incredibly polite and witty. Placed my order and then was told 20 minutes! That was the only down fall. I showed up pretty quickly only to sit at the bar for almost an hour while my food cooked. However, that wasnt that bad. Had an awesome skinny margarita while I waited. The food... Amazing, different, and plentiful. I order three a la carte tacos. One with pork, beef brisket, and chicken. Topped it with a tomato and habanero salsa (hot). The flavors exploded in my mouth. Starts off with the flavor of the meats followed by a rush of heat that stays throughout. The chicken was the best. My wife ordered a chipotle meatball quesadilla. Different, right? It was perfect. Meatballs were cooked perfectly and the chipotle flavor wasn't too spicy. Finished off the meal with some chips and salsa with mild pico. If I weren't on vacation, I'd for sure be back. However, hopefully my review leads to...
