TL;DR: Annie Creek served me raw chicken (see picture), and I’m shocked I haven’t been on the can for a night yet in the 2 days it’s been since I ate this food. Hopefully it doesn’t happen but when you go to Annie Creek restaurant you just never know apparently. The terrible reviews don’t lie. Between the mostly rude staff, horrendous - undercooked – food, and to top it all off a lack of social distancing/COVID19 measures, I would never go here again while staying at Crater Lake. Feel free to read through my full review for all the details on what makes this pathetic excuse of a restaurant live up to its awful reviews.

My girlfriend and I gave Annie Creek a shot with its cheaper prices figuring it can’t be as bad as the reviews make it seem. We opted for takeout, wearing masks after waiting in the socially distanced outside line, we order a chicken burger with a side salad and a cheeseburger and are handed an order number card (how many people touched that before?) and told it’d be a 10-minute wait. 15 minutes go by and both groups in front of us get their orders, no problem. 10 minutes later and the line of customers starts to pile in, not waiting outside as they didn’t have staff enforcing people to wait outside. More people, some with masks barely on their face, some not wearing masks at all, come in making it feel as if you’re waiting in line to go ride the Tower of Terror. 30 minutes pass and a staff member informs us that our food will be ready in 7 minutes in a very apologetic manner. It was kind of him, but for god’s sake it can’t possibly take over 30 minutes to (we assume) microwave what was most likely a frozen chicken patty and cheeseburger. More time passes and the lack of COVID19 common sense got to the point where I didn’t feel comfortable being in there so I stepped outside. My girlfriend comes out with the food and a small plate loaded with about 12 ketchup packets. Supposedly, a different staff member gave us our food and he sounded like a stereotypical Annie Creek staff member based on the other awful reviews. He listed off the order incorrectly so my girlfriend asked him about the chicken sandwich he missed and he rudely said to check the top box and “lift the bun up”. Taken aback, my girlfriend told him it looks like a cheeseburger and, reluctantly lifted the bun up (a request to touch the food during COVID?) confirming it was a cheeseburger. Then he rudely asked her to check the bottom box and goes “oh there’s the chicken burger” after seeing it, and follows up by holding the small plate of Heinz ketchup packets asking repeatedly “do you want these?”. To avoid pillaging her hands through the ketchup packets, she took the entire plate figuring it would avoid any further confusion, or rudeness from the moronic staff member.

We get back to our hotel and the side salad with the chicken burger isn’t there and the “chips” that come with the food are potato chips. You’d figure it’d be fries since the older employee dumped all the ketchup packets onto us. My girlfriend’s cheeseburger was cold, and she opted not to eat the part she had to touch since we had been touching door handles and the order card. I’m eating my chicken burger inspecting each bite to make sure it’s not raw and of course I see that most of the middle is. An absolute joke, to the point where I couldn’t even eat it. I’ve had bad tasting food before and will finish it reluctantly since I need to eat, but I’ve never had to not finish a meal because it wasn’t cooked properly. Maybe it would’ve been better if this didn’t happen during a global pandemic, but honestly how can you f* up a chicken burger and cheeseburger to the point where it takes 40-45 minutes to “make” and not even cook the chicken. I understand this is one of the very limited options for food up on the Crater Lake Rim, but they should be shut down for serving raw meat - that has to violate health codes. This “restaurant” is the biggest joke of an establishment and if it were shut down (which it should be) I would not be the least...

TL:DR Ignore the petty group of people who went on here to blast this place. Annie Creek has great food and beer selection. The restaurant seemed to have a lot of seating, but small (clearly visible) kitchen. Don't expect perfection out of this small restaurant during peak times as they have limited means to hire people. Also realize all the hot food is made to order. They do have grab and go available for those who don't want to wait.

-We had a great experience here this weekend (Sept 17-19). Made an impromptu trip out to the area and were so happy to have real, hot food rather than cold packed lunches and granola bars (there was a fire ban, so bringing food to cook at campsite wasn't a possibility). Granted we didn't go at during peak season, our food came out quick and the food was great. I had the buffalo chicken wrap, which is often my go-to if it's available. Theirs was wonderful. Not too spicy and not bland. Just enough spice to make my lips tingle and the flavor wasn't overpowering. There was plenty of chicken, plus lettuce, tomatoes, and I believe carrots. It was served with a packet of Newman's Ranch dressing and kettle chips. My SO had the meatless burger, I believe it was an Impossible Burger. Didn't realize there was no cheese, but that's not the restaurant's fault, just didn't notice when ordering. It totally makes sense, because it's one of their vegan items...just didn't think when ordering. We're not vegan or vegetarian, we just don't eat red meat didn't think about dairy with cheese. Nice selection of beer. I had the Amber and the SO had their blood orange cider. Both were great after a long day of hiking!

As far as the petty group who made it their mission to trash this nearly ONLY restaurant in the area. It's not difficult to see the kitchen area. I can only imagine if you show up there on, what I'm guessing was a holiday weekend (I'm surmising it was the 4th of July based on the time frame of the reviews), it's evident their kitchen would struggle if the front doors were bursting at the seams. Anyone who has worked in the industry would be able to use their brain and realize that restaurants run cook lines. So, if 8/10 of a group orders burgers, those 8 burgers can't all fit on the grill and someone has to manage said grill. Plus, that grill has to cook everyone's order that was made prior to this group of ten's. While on the other hand, a pizza is topped and popped in an oven then that person can move on and make more similar items for that line. As for being dissatisfied maybe this group should have approached the situation with honey rather than vinegar. Anytime someone "confronts" someone else the other party is going to go on the defense. But, I guess if all the fart sniffers feel better about themselves for leaving this small business a poor review, in their world that is all that matters and they must feel validated for trashing this place. For those like me we're able to ignore their ignorant pettiness. They're obviously mad because they didn't get...

There was NO waiter or waitress at all We sat ourselves which was fine. We ordered 2 bowls of clam chowder and my husband ordered fish and chips. My husband went to fill his $3.25 soda and there was no ice. So he asked a lady who completely just kept walking and didn't acknowledge he was speaking to her, so I walked right up to her and said excuse me please you are out of ice. She said ok give me your cup I'll get you ice in the back which was really weird to me usually you fill up the ice machine. I watched as multiple people had to ask for ice and that same staff member getting frustrated. Then the food came and omg! Our clam chowder was literally opened from a can dumped in a paper bowel and microwaved because I stirred it and there was still cold spots in the soup I probably took about 5 bites not wanting to be rude and send it back, it was super thick not like soup in the slightest bit. It jiggled in the bowl. I had to stop eating it because it was very gross. My husband tried his and took one bite and said I'm not eating that. So I thought if I got some hot water from the hot water dispenser I could add a little water so it wasnt so thick so I filled my cup up and well the hot water was barely warm I was able to drink it so it wasnt hot. Keep in mind we paid $8 per bowl so that was $16 dollars and I felt they needed to know so I took it back up front and told the lady I hate to complain but this soup is seriously horrible and it's from a can u can tell I'd like my money back please. They didn't address why the soup was horrible or go talk to whoever made it.she just said ok and started messing with the computer to do a void to give me my money back but she couldn't figure it out I had to wait 15 minutes all while a line behind me was growing people wanting to order and never once did she tell those people I'm sorry I'm having computer problems ill be with you as soon as possible. She completely ignored them. The customers asked another worker to take their order and he said u have to wait. Completely unprofessional. I was finally refunded and sat back down while my husband ate his fish and chips and watched about 14 customers have to ask for ice,hot water, napkins and many other things. Not one employee showed enthusiasm about their job they didn't care. I was pretty disappointed my very first trip to crater lake on my 5 year anniversary. Horrible service Horrible food And now I feel sick from the 5 bites I ate of the soup. I will not...

A mixed bag at the Annie Creek Restaurant. There is often a wait, even in the middle of the shoulder month of September. Is you want the food quicker I suggest ordering takeout. They have a captive audience so the food is rather mediocre for the price but the bang for buck ratio is not as bad as I have seen at a couple other National Parks. The Lady of the Woods pizza is rather decent and not a terrible value. The Fish and Chips was OK. Some of the fish was not well cooked (i.e. needed to be fried longer so it wasn't like warm) but the ones and parts that were cooked well were tasty. The MarionBerry cheesecake was tasty but it was the smallest piece of cheesecake I have ever seen from a restaurant (and $9). The presentation is impressive, however. Probably the biggest indictment of this restaurant is our best dinner at Crater Lake was rehydrated meals we brought with us. Feel free to use the store next door's boiling water dispenser (meant for tea). Works like a charm. If you are looking for the Crater Lake postcard that features the Crater and not some dude on a bicycle you might want to check this gift shop as the Visitor Centers were sold out of the good ones when I visited.

We visited the Annie Creek restaurant and gift shop on a weekend, mid June, 2023. The gift shop was nice, with a good selection. They had restrooms that were fairly clean, considering the amount of people that use them. The restaurant was very nice and rustic. Service was good. Although they make you order than tip up front before you even leave the counter. I don't like tip before service atmosphere. I feel like it's extortion. I tip for service. Not because I worry about retaliation if I don't tip. And tips are supposed to be for service. Not expected for what ever service you get. So I feel like I was extorted. We ordered a pepperoni pizza. With tip it was $30 with water only. The pizza was filling. But it was the large dough type. It was filling. But it tasted just like a frozen pizza from your local supermarket. Not very good. And definitely not worth $30. But we wanted to support the business, so that it would be there for people to use. All in all it was a nice visit. The lunch filled our bellies. But wasn't very good and cost a lot. But keep in mind, there are not a lot of options close by. So maybe try another dish.
