Buddy's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Knoxville

As always, when traveling, me and my family really enjoy trying the local businesses and recommendations from people.

Buddy’s Bar-B-Q was recommended but the hotel staff where we stayed. Me and my wife agreed to check it out since it was getting late and we’d been on the road all day.

So let me start off with the negatives and end with the positives because that’s always a great way to end reviews. Always on a good note.

Cons: The meat was a little salty along with the fries. Not bad if you’ve been sweating like a hand rung towel that’s soaking wet but not exactly what I’d ask for when just wanting something with flavor.

The hot dogs weren’t bad but I will admit it was heavy on the smoke flavoring and again, salt.

The chicken tenders were dry but the sauce helped moisten them up after you let it set for a bit. Not the worst I’ve had either. The chicken is fully cooked for sure which is always a plus.

Pros: Family pricing is friendly! Have a family of four and wanna keep it gentle on the wallet, you’ve got the right place.

The atmosphere is VERY COMFORTABLE! I love the feeling of an old school cabin and cool wooden benches which definitely made things great on a critically hot summer day.

The staff is very welcoming too which is another plus. The facility was thoroughly clean and not a speck of dust or dirt. Outstanding!

Overall? Worth the trip and a great place to stop in for a wallet kindness and family...

I normally do not leave a review but however in this case I made an exception. My first time eating here yesterday I was told they do not carry beef, but their menu says otherwise. No biggie I ordered ribs and and they were dry, over cooked. So today I decide well let's give Buddy's another try. After reading other reviews everyone was raving about the 1/2 price swings so I decided to try those and was told you dont have 1/2 price wings?!?! I am a Gm of a store close by and eat regularly around town at different restaurants. I and my staff wont be back, theres to much confusion with what's on the menu and what's not. This is for the location that is on Kingston Pike just to clarify. Clean eating area, friendly staff. So no issues here. The meat was a little dry and the flavor mostly comes from the sauce. But the meat was tender, and the price is family friendly. The sauce isn't the best I have had, isn't the worst either. It could use more hickory flavor and a little more sweet. But it's good. The chili isn't the best and I probably won't get it again. The hush puppies were mediocre. They could use something to boost the flavor, but they are not horrible. I will get them again.

I am picky and compare all BBQ to Memphis, so some may rate them higher than me. I find them to be pretty good for a fast food style restaurant.

Pros: Price, fair BBQ, clean eating area, portions are not skimpy for the price.
