We drove one hour to get here. 1st Dining experience.
Wow! What an awesome lunch. Everything, from the time we walked in to the time we left was absolutely wonderful. We were greeted with smiles and energy! This is a family owned business and you can tell they sure do love it! We brought in our granddaughter for her 7th bday. She missed out on her birthday cone because she wanted cotton candy instead. There were 4 adults and 1 child in our group. There was an assortment of tables, benches and chairs to choose from. Semi busy lunch rush.
We had a big order of a Garza Tenderloin Sandwich w/Cheese Fries, Smashed Burger w/ Fries, Sloppy Joe w/ pretzel, Cheeseburger w/ Fries, a Giant Knoxville Dog w/ Tots and Fried oreos. Now... I normally take pics of all the food, but three were dug straight into, when the order came out and were almost gone with a few bites left before I could take any of their pictures. Which means they were all delicious!
The food comes out when its ready as in, not all at once, depending on what you order. If you ordered first or down the line, it comes out at different times because most of the menu is grilled or fried. It doesn't sit and get cold. A great selection of sandwiches, sides and treats are on the menu to choose from. Not one thing we ordered was bad or incorrect.
Let's just say my husband has a beast of an appetite. He eats BIG and is my pickiest eater. The Garza Tenderloin Sandwich won! He had three bites left. Normally, he is still hungry. The portions are big and the prices are reasonable.
Very clean. Plenty of condiments provided on the tables. The heat was on, its pretty warm in the building. A little side area for games. If I had to pick a flaw, it would be the size of the dining room, it was a little crunchy in spots but still very accommodating. The games take coins. There was a nice couple with their daughter behind us, who gave us some of their leftover coins for our granddaughter. That was super cool! We will definitely be back in the future. We love themed places to eat and this place hit every mark and...
Read moreCute, unique and an option in a very small town (that has minimal options). Despite this none of us were impressed and left underwhelmed.
The good: funnel cake, burger and fries, and onion rings were tasty (and made to order). Burger was more of a smash/thin burger, but good. The lemonade shakeup was good, but overpriced in my opinion. If you get entree and drink, bill adds up quick!
The bad: corn dog was hot, but breading was soggy and very thin. I like thin, but this was very minimal to where you didn't get the bite/little crunch you do when I think of a carnival corn dog. Maybe this is why it was soggy?
Personally, I was really turned off with no complimentry water. Ok, fine, but TWO DOLLARS in Knoxville, IL? It's a regular cheap bottled water, that should be a dollar. I recall it was the same price as a can of soda even. Unless you pay attention, you may not even realize the cost (one in our group noticed after sitting down). If cost of cups for water are the issue, maybe charge for the cup? Thought it was tacky....just my opinion.
Also, bring cash. There was a card fee (understandably & becoming common). However, when there's a fee it should be clearly posted (don't recall if it was).
Would try again, but likely stop in just for a funnel cake.
Heads up....NOT wheelchair friendly (there are a...
Read moreThe food is great! We had the tenderloin. But was not great was the cleanliness. All the tables were filthy, ketchup smeared on table and trash can, The only place that looked clean to sit was the picnic table which was so sticky and gross. The floor had food all over it. If the dining area looked this bad, I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. The sweet girls working seemed frazzled and could not keep up with the demand on a Saturday. I felt sorry for them. Owners or management should have been there to assist, since obviously they could barely keep up with the demand. When a restaurant is starting out, you can't afford for this to happen, or it will go away like a fart in the wind. Be present, support your people, staff it well, clean up the place so people will come back. After this, I know a few people that won't...
