I have been ordering food from here for over 16+ years. The food is the best take out/american style Chinese food I've ever had. As I have described it to family and friends who have also become fans, is it is like standard Chinese take out, but done fresh, by hand, and with homemade style recipes/cooking. For instance the best hot and sour soup and egg drop soup around, where most restaurants are usually overly thick and artificially yellow, Golden Garden's has a nice and normal soup consistency, natural color, and doesn't tasted processed/generic. The sweet and sour sauce is thin, not gelatinous, and tastes like it is actually made with pineapple juice instead of premade. The best pad thai Knoxville TN, better than taste of Thai when they we're open or other places I've tried. If you're expectations are your standard overly thicken/gelatinous sauces, premade/processed panda express style take out than yeah you may be disappointed, but that because the food here is a high quality and well made take on familiar dishes. The service is always great. The owners are friendly and personable. This is a true mom and pop place that has a long history of fans and good reviews for a...
Read moreSince I live just down the street and because so many people gave it rave reviews, I gave it three chances. Three. Solid. Chances. Each time, I ordered wildly different dishes and every single one came with the same bland, thick, sweet, super light-colored sauce. I swear, it’s gotta be mostly corn syrup and oil mixed with some soy sauce and garlic or something. I predicted this would happen the third time I tried it, believing I’d probably be wrong. But I wasn’t. Same sauce as the other two. So this is definitely a situation where the locals have never had good Chinese food. Sorry guys, you’re missing out. I don’t expect authentic—there is little to no authentic Chinese food in Knoxville save for maybe a few jellyfish or intestine dishes at Asia Cafe next to Sunrise. But I can make better American Chinese food at home....
Read moreMy husband and I met up with some friends to eat at Golden Garden. Our friends said it was good but we were skeptical. We have been looking for good Chinese food in the Knoxville area but haven't had much luck finding any at a reasonable price. Well that all changed tonight! It is a small place with only a few tables and slightly lacking in decor. If you didn't have it on GPS then you could easily pass it without noticing. But more importantly the service was great and the food was fantastic. You can tell the food is made from scratch. We ordered: Crab Rangoons, Gyoza, Mooshoo Pork, Pad Thai, Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I wish I had pictures to post but the food looked to good to waste any time on pictures. They now have 4 new loyal (and...
