One afternoon on my laptop at Seed Coffee Knoxville was all it took to realize Iād found the best coffee shop in Knoxville for getting real remote work done. The place nails the sweet spot between lively and distractionāfreeāsomething not allĀ Knoxville coffee shopsĀ manage.
First thing that hooked me? The Sonos speakers. In addition to giving quality sound, they have good placement. They sit down low, not too far from ear level. Most of the other coffee shops in Knoxville mount them up high like they do inĀ department stores. Their better placement results in a full, warm sound that fills the room without having to turn the volume to 11āimmersing you in the sound while remaining distraction free. Small detail. Huge difference.
The layout and decor sets Seed apart. It's set in a daylight basement with windows on one side, letting in constant natural light to keep you awake while still maintaining the cozy nook atmosphere that we all love about the best coffee shops. The shop is split into two rooms, letting you choose between vibes. Oftentimes, one is more chatty while the other room remains quiet. Plus, they keep a little jungleās worth of plants that lets the room breathe. The furnishing is just as flexible. You can sink into a leather couch, perch on a high bar stool (I use this as a standing desk), or settle in at one of the many two-tops.
Their coffee holds its own. Iām a blackādrip guy and theirs pours smooth. No burnt bite. No weird aftertaste. Order āfor hereā and they hand you a ceramic mug. A warm touch that carries quality.
And fast Wi-Fi, too. If youāre hunting the best coffee shop in Knoxville for remote work, this is it. Walk in, plug in, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOut-of-towner here, passing through and wanting a GOOD cup of coffee for the road. Based on some of the reviews, I chose this place. (Thanks to other reviewers for mentioning the parking is behind the building- nice to know this if you're unfamiliar- there is a very nice & good-sized lot back there.)
I'll start with the coffee. I asked what drip coffee they had brewed and it was light roast! Almost nobody has light roast brewed! That's what I'm always looking for!! But not any old light roast- a fruity, single origin, WILDLY DELIGHTGUL light roastš±š±š±. If you have HAD IT with the burnt, nasty, Starbucks-type coffee, Seed is your place.
But that's not all. The place is clean, uncluttered, yet very cozy and welcoming, has lots of seating in a few different rooms which keeps it feeling cozy. The two young ladies working were super kind and helpful. My 3 kids all got different cold beverages and all were excellent (I tasted my daughter's seasonal iced latte- it had cherry & maple I think- and it was delicious- and not over-sweetened).
Last I will add that this is a fairly quick off-the-interstate stop- only about a mile or so off the exit which is minimal inconvenience for some coffee that will have you smiling for a long ways...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSeed Coffee is an ideal oasis for the WFH crowd, or those like me who just want a nice spot for out-of-office meetings and casual hang outs with friends. The food is great, the coffee is amazing and the staff is incredible, and it all supports a good cause (Seed proceeds support non-profit Seed International).
I shared a few pictures, including my cinnamon latte and breakfast sandwich (BEC on everything bagel w/scallion cream cheese). 10/10 would recommend both. My latte was so delicious I ordered a second.
The dining room was spacious and offers places to work and relax, and there are amazing outdoor patio spaces (dog friendly).
Like a lot of downtown buildings, there is plenty of parking in the rear of the building (off Vandeventer Avenue).
Great spot, great food and coffee, great people....
