Our family members have been eating at Miguelito in Krum from the time it first opened in downtown Krum. It has been our favorite Mexican restaurant. When we lived in the area we frequented it about twice a week. We have always told our friends and relatives that it was the best Mexican food in Denton county. We moved out of the area (16 miles away) and have continued to frequent the restaurant. Now something has changed! We made two trips there this week. On Tuesday evening with our daughter and again with other family members (9 in all) on Saturday evening. Saturday evening we ate on the patio where the tables are made of heavy wire mesh. While serving the drinks and salsa the waitress spilled my wife’s large coke on the table which went through the table into my wife’s lap and purse. We got an oops from the waitress, not even a sincere apology. We asked the waitress if she could get a mop and mop it up from around our feet and the continued dripping from the table. Her answer was, “we only clean it up at the end of the day when we can hose it down”. Half of our party had to move around much closer together to get our feet out of the mess. Then the food was only mediocre at best. Miguelito salsa has been the best I have ever eaten (loved it) but something changed. It was not up to par either time this week. I had beef burritos Tuesday and the small steak with the beef burrito Saturday evening. The meat in the burritos and tacos were not seasoned right. My wife and one daughter had tortilla soup which was so cold they couldn’t enjoy it. Our dinning experiences at Migeulitos this week have not been good. Not worth the drive. Poor service and only mediocre food. HAVE WE LOST OUR FAVORITE MEXICAN FOOD? WHAT HAS HAPPENED? PLEASE GET BACK TO THE QUALITY OF SERVICE AND FOOD THAT MADE YOUR RESTAURANT MANY PEOPLES...
Read moreGrowing up in the thriving metropolis of Krum, TX there weren’t a whole lot of places to eat. But there was a little Mexican place named Miguelito’s. Since we first moved to Krum when I was a kid and the 20ish years that have followed I’ve never—not once—eaten at Miguelito’s despite the fact that it seemed to be for a lot of Krumites the dinner spot. It started off in a small rather dilapidated old building down by the Johnny Joe’s gas station. It has since moved to its own new building down the road in recent years.
That streak has finally been broken as we met the in-laws there for lunch this morning. I got the steak & eggs platter which is, well, a steak, eggs, salad and beans. Let me tell you, without any exaggeration whatsoever, it was absolutely the worst Mexican food I’ve ever eaten.
The queso was bland, it was simply melted cheese. The steak was maybe a quarter inch thick at best, and was fatty and stringy. The “salad” was literally shredded lettuce topped with diced tomatoes. I sat there wondering why they included taco toppings on my plate before the realization struck me that it was my “salad”. Only the refried beans were passable.
The one saving grace was that the server was great and attentive. The restaurant itself and the staff were great. The food left much...
Read moreThis past Saturday 2/3 evening marked our first visit to Miguelito’s Mexican Restaurant, and what an unforgettable experience it was! Venturing from McKinney, about an hour away, my husband and I joined family to celebrate an upcoming birthday. It was well worth the drive, as we were thrilled to declare this the best Mexican food we have ever enjoyed. With a plethora of Mexican eateries in our vicinity, Miguelito’s has now skyrocketed to the top of our list.
Our family had the opportunity to sample a wide array of dishes since everyone ordered different entrées - from enchiladas and quesadillas to fajitas and an assortment of appetizers. The steak fajitas were a standout, boasting incredibly tender steak with unmatched flavor that left us all impressed. While we found the salsa a tad spicier than our usual preference, it was the only minor hiccup in an otherwise perfect dining experience. The margaritas and piña coladas also deserve a special mention for their excellence.
Miguelito’s has not only set a new benchmark for Mexican cuisine in our books but has also left us eager for our next visit. We’re already planning our return to indulge in more of their delectable offerings. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic and exceptional...
